Default Do 2004 headlights automatically turn off?

Hi folks,

I'm in the market for a used Forester, and found a 2004 X that looks pretty good. With one reservation.

I swooped on the used auto sales place to look at it. Dropping by unannounced, I was looking at the Soob when a guy who worked there brought a truck around. He said he needed to jump it, because he'd 'left the lights on yesterday.'

And I wondered: don't Forester headlights turn off automatically? Do they in the 2004 model? It's just a little tidbit that doesn't add up, unless I've got it wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Ditto Ferret's post. It's parking lights, not headlights, that are controlled by the infamous switch. Headlights never stay on.

Okay, thanks folks. It's been on the lot since May so maybe it's been that long since they've started it... but if so they're not being straight with me. Next.

It's super easy to turn the switch on when dusting, and it is likely that a dealer might have dusted the Forester when it first went out on the lot. And he probably didn't assign this task to his brightest employees.
