2015 XT DRL LEDs

So I bought some DRL LEDs from ebay.. ( yes ebay... I can't justify spending $450+ for the OEM version )

Installation was pretty simple and easy if you know how to do some basic wiring, and also removing the bumper ( which isn't hard at all )

Well here are some pics.

Ordered on Thursday and received it today.

Came in a box with no instructions. Wires are Red; Black; and Yellow. Red to power, Black to ground, and Yellow is the park light. ( If you connect the yellow wires, it just make the light dimmer)

Bumper removed... It's pretty simple to remove. There's another tread on here that shows you how to remove it.

This picture shows where I run the wire thru. Its a rubber garment just above the gas pedal

This shows the sound denting carpet covering it up. ( I ran the wire over the steering column and to the fuse box and used a Tap A Fuse

This shows the wiring, and heat shrink

The old one just pop out, and just pop in the new ones

both installed

I wired it to where it turns on when the car is on

Parking lights on

Headlights and Parking lights on, fogs lights are off

It looks good, not bad for $100.

2014 forester led drl | eBay

There's many varieties and styles available on fleabay, including the ones the OP has. If you shop around enough, sometimes you can find them for a steal. However note shipping locations, some come straight from China and will take a while to arrive.

@Kevinmai712 They look good, I may have to try a set of those vs the ones I have now. Def look brighter then the JDM ones as well...

I hope someone would make a full length led drl, other than this one

I like this a lot when the led are on, but when off... the forested white looks somewhat off (especially for the white foresters)

Unfortunately that would be difficult to do, the bottom insert section is part of the fog light bezel and would require trimming or cutting to make it happen. The full length models snap on top of the insert.

I took the bumper off so I can wire it and make it more neat.

I have a brush guard on my 2015 XT, so I didn't remove my bumper either. However, my installation is very neat. Just fished the connections for the lights through the holes with a coat hangar where the plastic panels were removed. I also removed some of the plastic rivets on the top of the grille and hid and zip tied the wiring under those panels. The rest of my installation is probably similar to yours - except I added a lighted rocker switch to the left of the steering column.

Looks great and the price is good on those ones. I think to finish off the look, you really should plasti dip or wrap the chrome bezels around your fog lights. They just seem out of place as almost the only chrome left on the front of the car. Nice job on the install.

Kevin, I just received the same LED lights off ebay. I have some questions regarding the install:

Did ou use extra wires to hook it up?? I looked at your pics and I see blue wires-are they joined to the wires on the LED light?y?

Also, I have disabled my DRL, just unplugged the resistor connection. Where do I connect the yellow wire to??? I want the LEDs to mimic the DRL on the car so that when I turn the headlights on, it turns off. Could you pls send me/post some more pics if you can so that i can really see the wiring scheme??

Which fuse socket did you tap into and whats the resistor reading??

Im a novice and trying to learn as I work on this...thanks a lot...

the blue wires are just extra wires to extend from the under dash fuse box, the yellow wire you can connect it to your Parking Light it just makes the LED dimmer.

so what i did is this... from the fuse box under the dash i used a fuse tap and wire the blue wire to extend out to the power box. i used extra blue wires to ground the black wire, and with the yellow i just cut it and cover it since i won't use it

Thanks Kev for the wonderful write up! I bit the bullet and installed the exact same LED DRL on my XT 2015. It was practically simple to install. I did not have to remove my bumper. I believe I had a defected module. When I connected the red to positive and black to negative, the LED activated. ???? I thought the module was to detect if my engine was on. I was quite confused. Anyway, I treated the unit as if the module did not exist. I connected the black wire to the battery negative and fused tap the red wire to the same fuse area where you connected yours. I left the yellow alone. That way the LED went on when I started the engine and went off when it was off the way it was supposed to be. The other thing is the fitting of the lights. There is a gap between the socket and light itself as the unit does not fit completely well. I examined closely your picture and it was similar to mine. I guess I'll have to deal with the dirt and water that may get in.
