Considering the negative potential of leaded race gace, you can just mix in toluene in with your pump gas instead. Toluene has an octane rating of 114. Some will make their own "home brew" with a bit of ATF (lubricating properties), but it is just fine to mix straight toluene with pump gas. I wouldn't go past 30% toluene/ gas mixture though, since gasoline has lubricants added to it and you want that for your engine. Examples of Toluene mixed with 92 octane pump gas: 10% = 94.2 Octane 20% = 96.4 Octane 30% = 98.6 Octane |

![]() If your wondering why my time is so slow, but my mods list is so long, all I can say is 87 octane really restricts power... Especially if you un-knowingly based your custom road tune off a tank of 87 octane...

Well on my way to get road tune i stopped at a shell to fill up. I said Premium (93) and the kid started putting in regular, about 1/2 a gallon slipped in before I stopped him and reiterated that i wanted premium. So he started the pump over again with the premium button lit up, and my receipt said V-Power on it. So I and my Tuner assumed i had gotten premium, and we tuned all day. After we were done tuning the car felt alot slower, and less violent, i assumed it just felt slower because it was alot smoother, however after a couple weeks i suspected something had to be wrong. So after going to the track and only running 14's, my suspicions were confirmed, and we came to the conclusion that it had to have been a bad tank of gas. While at the track my buddy who's learning tuning noticed the car was calling for all the timing it could, and there was no engine load. So we added 4 degrees of timing above 4500rpms and that got me down to the 13.8 you all see here. (That was at 18.5psi of boost) Since that day at the track I got some new logs and my tuner sent me some true 93octane revisions and my car should be down into the 12's, hopefully if i can get to the track tomorrow i'll post up the results.

The attendant was on a cell phone and came over and just started pumping 87 into it. I ran over and shut the pump off and told him that i wanted 93. He was like"well you didnt say that". I told him about cell phones, gas pumps and taught him some new words. Luckily his cell phone didnt end up in the highway.

I went through the trap at ~6800 in third gear @ 115 mph on 225/45-17 drag radials..with the TC locked by my math the same situation would be 106 mph at 6800 rpms with 4.44 FD, 115*4.11/4.44=~106 left slip is the gtech run ![]() ![]() Last edited by a6n6d6y : 09-21-2008 at 09:14 PM. |
