I run 1st gear to about 6600rpm, the rest to 6500. I was shifting into 4th at 6200 before I switched to the slightly taller tires but I get more mph when letting it rev. I also have a stock WRX intercooler and cobbled-together splitter for that (the area is about 22% larger than the stock FXT). So it my be a factor as well.

60ft----1.951 330ft----5.815 1/8 et----9.071 1/8 mph---74.409 1/4 et ----14.15 1/4 mph----94.363 keyser soze - 1.951 60', 14.15 @ 94.363 (2004 XT 4eat) EIST I have trimmed almost a 1 sec off my time but my trap speed is still low to mid 90's! Should I go to a taller tire? I am running 225/45-17s and they are shorter than stock. What you guys think? Others cars running low 14's are trapping around 100, is it just our gearing?

If anything the shorter tires might be helping your times, since the improved gearing is giving you a quicker 60' (remember that every .1 off your 60' is going to = .2 off your ET) The other cars you speak of are also 5MT XT's and thats were the difference in trap speed is coming from. I'll try not to linger on the fact that those of us trapping 105 or greater have no business only running 13's. For 4EAT reference: the only other XT with a 4EAT on the list is running 13.13 @ 101

Actually, the other cars I was refering to were ones at the track. I beat a Magnum Wagon running a Hemi. It was a great race, I pulled ahead out of the hole and won the race but by end of the run he was moving up quick! I ran a 14.330 @ 94.6 and he ran a 14.20 @ 100. I beat him with a better reaction time, but a longer race and he would have won.

im a little nervous about posting my times cause i think they were bad but here goes. also, keep in mind that i've never participated in a drag event before. so this is my first time with any car and i was only able to run the car 3 times. the third time was scary cause i thought i busted my trans at launch so it was worse then the second time... btw my car is an 04 XT 5speed with no HP mods but an uppipe...
1st:R/T..... .846 2nd:R/T..... .548 3rd:R/T.... .566 60'..... 2.199 //////// 60'..... 1.939 /////60'..... 2.006 330..... 6.189 //////// 330..... 5.770 /////330..... 6.021 1/8..... 9.418 //////// 1/8..... 8.973 /////1/8..... 9.267 MPH..... 76.16 //////// MPH..... 76.27 /////MPH..... 74.83 1000..... 12.221 ////// 1000..... 11.762 ///1000..... 12.069 1/4..... 14.576 //////// 1/4..... 14.110 /////1/4..... 14.429 MPH..... 95.72 //////// MPH..... 95.95 /////MPH..... 95.97 my second run was nice especially cause i was ahead of a trans am formula ws6(ramair) for most of the time. only after the 1000 mark did he get ahead. he got a 13.992. not bad for a wagon! if i can figure out how to scan these and get them in here i will... The 14.1 as well as the other runs are very respectable for a stock car. Magazine times are usually accomplished with no regard for the car's longevity so know that those extra tenths will probably shorten your clutch, diff. and tranny's life considerably.
The forester is obviously not built to be a 1/4 mile terror though it has great potential so you can hold your head high.

Another thing to remember is Car and Driver, as well as other magazines, correct acceleration times to account for altitude, humidity, baro pressure, etc. There are NHRA charts for altitude corrections.
So if your running above 1000 ft elevation, you might be at 13.9 or 13.8. What elevation is the track? Ask Snowman for the correction variable per your altitude.
