Damn I wish I could be there to witness this. It's gonna be good. If possible pick the quickest car to go up against first. I found that heat soak would make my times slower as the day wore on. I agree, if you can get lighter wheels you would be better off. If you were closer I'd give you my 17" superleggs for the day, they are 17's with good rubber but weight the same as the stock 16" wheels.

PS if possible leave the car seat in the back. That's what I did, the Neon SRT4 guy was not happy when I beat him. Makes it that much more worth it :)

PS using ICE on the IC may be counter productive, if you get the fins too wet you will prevent quick evaporation which is the thing that really cools it down. Purchase a half dozen cans of canned air, turn the can upside down and spray the heck out of the fins with the liquid (say you just want to get the bugs off) Make sure you get a cheap brand. You want the type that lets the liquid out for the best cooling. Good brands have what they call a "spray anyway" valve that prevents liquid from coming out when it's upside down.

I don't know too many details at the moment, but I'll update as soon as I get more info. I really hope this happens though. I'm pretty sure it is at PIR, because the only other track around is in Everett, and it is an 1/8 mile track.

Wouldn't it be more beneficial to run higher psi in the tires like 44-45psi? It's not like traction will be a problem for the FXT. The extra psi's in the tire may give Chris the slight wheelspin he needs to launch w/ slight wheelspin and no bogging.

Lets hope that RSX-S doesn't show up w/ DRs.

Actually, that's a really interesting point. I never thought of that but it makes sense. Probably best off not touching the tire pressures if you're already running 13 seconds flat.

+1, sounds like you are launching very nicely as-is. You should be hooking up better than those other cars in street trim. Now, if the Acura is on slicks and has some craziness under the hood.. can't trust them Hondah peeps

I would love to be there.

P.S.: I doubt the Mustang can do mid 13s (it's a convertable), and the VW kid doesn't sound like much of a threat.

Check out the acura forums, maybe he is on there having the same conversation, and we can get a preview of his times.

You are not gonna have a problem with any of those cars with the times you're already capable of. The Acura is a bit of an unknown, but he's definitely gonna be spinning his wheels and have to run you down at the end. The VW is a no chance. The Cobra is interesting but I'm not sure what they're times are like stock, low 13's? He might give you a run for your money. Not that it needs to be said, but open the hood between runs and let it cool down, try that compressed air idea, it sounds like a viable idea.

You may even want to just go to a willliams sonoma or other cooking store and get the whipped cream canister and a bunch of nitrous refills, you could spray down your intercooler with that, it will be dry and cold. (I'M NOT SURE OF ANY SAFETY ISSUES WITH DOING THIS, MIGHT WANT TO ASK SOME OTHER PRO'S, BUT IT SHOULD BE OK).

I think those do high 13s. They are 3,600 lbs.

Have fun Chris! Do all of the above for your sweet XT and bring one of these for yourself.

The thing is, from the sound of it, I really think these guys expect to trounce you. I don't see that happening, they are in for a rude awakening. Be prepared to hear all sorts of excuses too.

I believe the guy was saying August 20th or something around there. I'm still waiting for the details. He also mentioned a time in October.

If you race at the shorter track, woe be unto the guys in the other lane. My one race day showed me what our cars will do on a short track against drag cars. Your neighbors will be shaking their heads, walking around in a daze going "WTF?!?"

Good luck and have fun with it. Sounds like a good time if nobody becomes a-holish.

I remember that post! When you consider the Forester XT is one of the quickest 0-30mph production cars Car and Driver have tested (1.3 seconds), a 1/8 mile track would be no contest even in stock form.
