Default 1/4 mile runs vs. neighbors cars, need opinions.

The local track in having a "neighborhood grudge match" next month, and I've been asked by a couple neighbors If I'd like to step up and run against them.

Here are the cars that I would be going against:

2000 Jetta VR6. Basically stock, but he said he has a CAI and a new exhaust goin on. I'm not to worry about this car, but the guy talks so much trash I'd love to show him my tail lights.

2005 Acura RSX Type S. The car has quite a bit of mods including a FMIC and a turbo pushing 6psi. He won't say much else about the car, so I'm not sure what these things can do when turboed. He just says "it's crazy fast yo".

1998 mustang Cobra SVT convertible. It is stock, and the owner says "no lunch box looking thing can hang with an American V8 musclecar!!".

I've only done 3 passes in my XT at the track, and I ran 13.16, 13.01 and a 12.94 (smooth shifting really makes a difference). Do you think I'll have any problems with the above cars?

I'm currently running 18's, should I switch to a lighweight 16 or 17, or are the 18's ok? any suggestions from the pros would be a big help! It will probably be hot around that time (90s), is there anything I can/should do to help prevent heatsoak?

The Jetta is a joke. You can start in second gear and still whoop him.
The boosted RSX will have little/no traction off the line as its FWD. Even if he's got a properly boosted car, he won't be able to get off the line fast enough. Honestly, even on a rolling start, with your mods you will have no problem.
The SVT will also be gone. I was at the track with one, same year, at stage 1 and we were completely even.
Nothing to worry about. Go out there, be humble, "Wow, you guys have some fast cars!" and spank them with a toaster.

Gee I'd love to be there to watch......... A bit far to travel half way around the world for it though LOL

Can't imagine my neighbours joining an invitation like that - would be to busy arranging a change of their incontinence pads........

even if you don't win, make them realize again what you're driving to begin with.

Sweet gig for that track! I think you'll have them all. Mustang SVT will probably be the closest.

Also hope for a wet day just for a bit of traction insurance.
Would laugh seeing the Acura and Mustang coping with that.

I was out washing my car and the Mustang owner asked me if I'd be interested. He said they need a 4th person to keep an even schedule. He said he remembed when he tried to pass me going on the freeway onramp a few month back and wasn't able to, so he thought I might give him a good run. That was when I was stage 1 too.

The Jetta owner is actually my punk neighbor kid, and he said his old beater Integra could take down a 350Z, and his new VR6 is way faster than his old car. He street races all the time, so he is use to beating his friends early 90s, 100hp compacts and he thinks his cars are fast. All I know is I'm going to leave the two baby car seats in for extra effect!

I have 3 maps to choice from, so I do have the option of running a bit more aggresive if needed.
I have:
17psi 92 map that puts out 280whp/312wtq
19psi 92 map that puts out 293whp/336wtq
100 octane race gas map that puts down somewhere around 303whp/356wtq. We didn't have time to tune it to its full potential, so it is a bit conservative.

you should smoke all of them, but the Acura maybe an unknown depending on his mods and if he's gonna to run slicks on the day

If I were you I'd try to make a profit out of this if they really have no idea what they're up against. Get some bets happening!

get in car cams in all of their cars. i wanna see your taillights. and of course hear them making excuses. it's funny, i'm trying to get some friends together to do the same thing. a buddy of mine just picked up a 99 bmw 540. my friends say it'll probably beat me. i'm thinking otherwise. unless it gets twisty.....(stock suspension and brakes) another friend has an 06 passat with the 2.0T in it. he thinks he'll run me too.

Run the 100 octane map and some lightweight 16" tires with about 22 psi in them. Even if you miss a shift, or bog the launch, you should easily make toast of all the cars you mentioned!

Bring a giant cooler full of ice to to cool down the IC with before each run, and give the car time to cool down between the runs.
