I believe this is my next car (if it comes stateside.. it probably won't, like most Japanese wagons). I am a Legacy Wagon boy. Hope they get rid of all that chrome...

The "Star Trek consoles" I don't mind so much hahaha

Since the '09 Forester will likely take the place of the Tribeca, perhaps the Exiga wagon will be the "new" Forester...

The Forester and Tribeca aren't even in the same category... and there are no plans to discontinue the 'beca.

The Exiga is a 7 passenger people mover with street ground clearance. It's more minivan-Queen Family Truckster than CUV like the Forester. The Exiga is likely built off of the next gen Legacy platform or maybe the other way around and the next Legacy will be built off of the Exiga platform.

I could see the Exiga replacing the Outback, though. Gets kinda repetitive having the larger Forester, Tribeca, Exiga, and the Outback. Too many vehicles doing roughly the same job. OTOH, it works for Toyota...

Except that they all are made by Subaru and have four wheels I don't see them being that much alike. Come on, the Tribeca is a 1000 pounds heavier than the new Forester. The new Exiga, Legacy and Outback models will slot in between that somewhere and have different functions. The Legacy may not have a wagon version any more if they leave that to the Exiga and the Outback might be a more ruggedly styled and raised version of the Exiga. The next Tribeca is expected to grow a little more if that's possible so the overlap in models will not really be that much.

It's just a range of cars that will probably need to be extended on the small end below the Impreza if fuel costs keep going up.

That's already the case... all MY08 Legacy models are now exclusively sedans and all wagons are Outbacks.
