To me it looks like maybe there should be a door there, but it hasn't been put on yet. I don't know. It does look pretty dumb in that picture though.

Been waiting for someone to critique the vents - Hyundai got reamed when they put them that low.

A lot of gas stations in my area are now carrying diesel. The BP Amoco staion I regularly go to has it.

The dash layout is similar to our '08 Impreza. Vent position is just fine. I wasn't too keen on the new dash at first, but the more I drive the car, the more I like it.

Maybe it is a bit more "truck" or "van" like in styling than the current "station wagon" like models.

That said, Subaru has both an SUV (Tribeca) and a raised AWD station wagon (Outback). The SUV is a disaster sales wise. The Outback, I believe, outsells the "other" wagon they have currently; our beloved Forester.

There's a lot of money to be made in the SUV niche. The wagon niche is quite a bit smaller. Why wouldn't Subaru try and get some of the SUV market using the Forester? It still has an AWD wagon to aim at us station wagon Nazis. What it does not have is a successful SUV product.

I am starting to think that the new Forester is intended as a back-up plan to the slow-selling, disappointing Tribeca SUV.

I still like the looks of it compared to the Outback and to the CUV segment leaders (CR-V and Rav4). With a fuel efficient, California-legal turbo-diesel, it would be awesome.

Regards,

Jim

I do wish that the bumpers, front and rear, were more practical as far as having impact-likely areas that are not painted so minor scuffs don't mar paint....even having a raised non-painted area in the middle of the front and rear bumper (or unpainted corner impact sectors) would be an improvement over this new wave of buck-naked painted parts that beg for a scuff or gouge.

Ditto the sides but I can fabricate my own side protection strips (like I did on my 03) but the bumpers are another story, though. If the impact areas (or dealer-installed option parts) featured molded-in color as opposed to painted parts, that'd be another story.......

I know I'm a geezer but I remember when bumpers bumped and didn't have a black eye...

You misunderstood me; I was paraphrasing much of what I've read on this board. Nowhere here do I say that I feel this way.

If I have correctly understood, on new Forester 2009 there will be a gearbox from new Impreza 2008, with tiptronic. Who it used on new Impreza, tell, it same, as well as on previous Forester and Impreza, only tronic have added? Or all it modified, have reduced delays, for example? That confuses me, how on such gearbox to make fast overtaking on narrow road? On previous it was possible to include a mode "3", and here it is absent.

You have not won yet, this lawsuit is being appealled. I see this lawsuit as a state's rights issue not an emissions issue.

There could be a niche for a new URBAN Forester with a 360 degree black molding for total protection.
Instead you just should start a campaign to teach people in NJ that when they parallel park they're not supposed to bang into the cars. I'd start with the cab drivers, geezers (overly birthday'd challenged for you PC types), and work your way down.

^^^ I like the navy blue!

They need to offer grille options though......

The NA white one has the same rims as the turbo blue one. I have always disliked the 2.5x/sport rims so this is nice. I am a little surprised that they offer the same rims for the NA/Turbo models though. It looks like the turbo wheels might be an inch larger though.

I really like that color too. I am thinking it's Dark Gray Metallic.

I agree. The only thing I really dislike about it is the grill. Wheels could be a little on the larger size as well.
