I believe most/all of the semi trucks driving on the roads are all diesel engines. Not every gas station is going to have diesel but I would say most/all stations near the highways will have them.

I noticed that as well, I thought it was very odd that they would have an all black interior but then have the white trim. It looks very unusual.

yeah.. i drove around the other day looking for some near my immediate residence. it just seems i can't look in irvine for diesel. we're all outfitted with this single hose 87-91 only deal within irvine. though, 15-20 mins outside the city gets you diesel. i guess i'll just have to get a fill up everytime i go eat 2 lbs of shrimp in the same area.

California does not represent the rest of the country. Nearly every gas station in the east sells diesel, gasoline, and even kerosene.

I love the white headliner. This is how BMW did their headliner in the 2002. I think it looks great.

Does anyone else think this Forester is the same as the old Forester, only more cheaply made?

I mean, where is the improvement? Same engine, ****ty manual transmission, and I bet noisy interior.

Maybe they've advanced since then. This coupled with the fact that there don't seem to be that many GAS stations that carry diesel make diesel seem like an odd choice.
It's obvious you have no experience of modern diesel engined cars, and wouldn't buy one anyway, so why not just quit moaning about your imagined inability to buy the stuff?

I don't know, to me it looks like there's a little loop/handle there in the back center of the floor similar to the one in my 05, which does have under floor storage.

Why would we expect "the best" from Subaru? Have they given us a reason to do so? I know most of us are fans of the Forester, but look at the recent models/redesigns they have given us; you won't find 100% agreement that they have been perfect. Expecting "the best" comes across like fanboy talk.

As for seeing more of the same in the new model in terms of form and function, if you polled the message board here you'd probably find that the majority of the members don't want significant changes in those areas. Just read the comments on this thread at any suggestion that the Forester will become taller, longer, heavier, etc. Everyone seems to want it to stay virtually the same, but better.

It's not white, it's light gray. I think the flash photography just makes it look lighter than it really is.

I find it ironic that Subaru are talking the Forester from its current niche into the same 'me too' niche as all the other 'soft roaders' when LR have a concelt going the other way http://www.topgear.com/blogs/planett...vers-new-baby/

Couldn't agree more about Diesels, anyone who thinks like dirteemac has never seen a modern common rail Diesel - oh actually he probably has but didn't realise it as there was no black smoke just oodles of torque that would easily embarres an FSTi.

It probably is actually grey. The color difference still looks dramatic.

Well I live in America so how would I be familiar with modern diesel engine cars? The only diesel cars I notice are old mercedes and F150's.

I expect the best in most things so if that is being a fanboy, I am.

Expecting the best in something rarely means perfection. I'm after the best Subaru can do.

I do expect the best from Subaru because I want my next vehicle to be a Subaru.

I didn't say they have achieved close to that or that they will in the future but I can hope they will.

I agree about the current size for my needs (and have said so many times). However, there are advancements to be made in design and technology (the new diesel for example). There are many aspects that most owners on here would love to see improved, your comment was "don't want any"

By your reckoning the Subaru Forester should remain the same for the next 20 years
