Default 09 Foresters that DIDN'T see much daylight

You can see them here:
The 2009 Subaru Foresters That Never Were: Ditched Designs

Maybe better not to look...you might begin to wonder.

Nothing there peaks my interest. I think the style they chose is better. Some look like Ford Escapes or Hundai models.

Looks the same to me? Slight differences in trim.

Default different faces

Some of the front faces are simpler and more conventional.

I like the way the Forester works, but the styling is...

They really ought to hire Pininfarina.

Yeah, some look like Ford, some Hyundai, some X3, and a few ... just hideous!

Those concept sketches look sweet. I love the fender flares and aggressiveness of the styling in the sketches. I hate that the new Forester does not have the distinctive fender flairs anymore.

Someone new needs to head Subaru design...

Or they should just make a design contest every year from the gen pub. I'm sure we'd find something better that way.

The silver ones could be Plymouths*, and the red ones could be Tonkas.

I do welcome the move away from the super funky, rubber clad, athletic shoe appearance that has occurred over the past 6-8 years or so, but IMHO they missed the sweet spot along the way.

-----
* I know that there haven't been any Plymouths since 2001. The comparison was intentional.

Pretty neat. You can definately see where they combined things from almost each of the ones shown to come up with the current 2009.

I think the new Forester design was developed by the Tribeca design team. I can see some the other car manufacturers mentioned as well; I just think this "mini SUV/crossover" segment is way too crowded and a lot of the designs are too similar because the manufacturers want to rush these products out quickly.

My only wish for the 09 is to have the front grill reflect the previous model. The new design makes my car look like a Chrysler product from the front.

Aside from that, I think it's one of the coolest looking small SUVs on the road...I'm not biased or anything.
