Default Difficult to say....

One of the good things about the original TG is the way they rate all individual tests and come up with a ranking at the end of the day...

This didn't happen tonight, so it's hard to say if the report was fair. What's the Forester's position? Better than the RAV and Xtrail? Middle? Bottom???

If they captured one issue the Forester does have was the plastic skid plate problem when driving in the sand...

Overall, the Aussie version is not as good as original, but it's better than I expected, honestly...

Cheers.

Did you notice that - Charlie is Clarkson , Steve is Hamster and Warren is James (captain slow) . And with captain slow driving the forester , and then sliding down the snowy hill ..... Yeah . At least the all wheel system can been seen working on the forester .

- I agree the OZ top gear had no final rating !

Let hope for a XT forester next time against the v6 rav !

cheers

I agree. I've ripped the plastic off all my foresters. that's why I have made alloy sump guards and now I have 10 of them for sale. suit '97 to '02 and later with some mods. $220 to members or soon $270 on ebay.

Default Top Gear Australia - Forester Review

Why didn't they at least use a 4 cyl RAV instead of the V6? This was a very unfair advantage particularly in the sand.

I really don't think this Australian version of the show works. The attempts at humour were pretty lame and the car reviews just weren't .

The UK version for me anytime.

I can't say anything about the AUS version of TG. But one thing I do know is that I love the Original british version. Mostly becouse it's funny.

No one knows what won and perhaps they are being a bit PC until they are settled.

The plastic only came off because the driver was a nuffie!

Saw that, they seemed to be trying a bit too hard to match the personalities of the original TG.

Not sure where the cars came in a comparision, which is really odd.

The V6 vs standard 4 makes no sense either but they never gave a result. I doubt there will be a next time though.

The big jump in the dune was funny and I am sure there was something amiss with the V6 in the front, but it wasn't commented.

Review? What review? I only 2 blokes and an unfunny wanker driving around.

The cars they used probably had more to do with what the car companies offered them......I think there would be quite a few surplus 200kW RAV's available.

I enjoyed the show, though a little contrived at times.

The softroader "review" was more to show the driving skills of the hosts rather than the capabilities of the vehicles.

I thought the whole show was a bit lame and was dissapointed they tried to (simply) replicate the UK version. Perhaps it will get better, but then again on a recent trip to the UK I thought their version was getting worse and more contrived.

Anyway, back to the Forester 'review' - I learnt nothing.

Thumbs down Australian Top Gear review

I think these people have never driven in the snow, with what they were doing. The track through the snow was not fair, as it should have been groomed after every car had gone through, and perhaps with the same driver.

How come this year when I had to stop on an icy up hill slope my Forester did not slid backwards like that. When the car (some Nissan 4WD ute thing) tried to take off in front of me and started sliding back towards me, I wasn't hanging around. I went to take off, the car slid back a little and then the traction control kicked in, and I drove around the outside of about 3-4 cars all looking on in amazement, all without chains.

Did they not have the traction control switched on, and if it was switched off, I think the VDC is still always active.

As for the show, it was trying too hard to be like the original UK Top Gear and not make their own identity. Everything that guy, not sure of his name, was the same as Jeremy, from introducing the Stig to the review fo the cars, event he way he was driving the cars.
