While the Subaru diesel generally has had positive reports from the various motoring magazines tests the biggest negative has been the lack of low rev torque and the care that is needed to avoid stalling when moving off in 1st gear. NTMID8 you are just confirming those reports. It is in marked contrast to the wide spread of torque in say the VW Tiguan/Golf 2.0 diesel which also has a much better rev range.

At the end of the day, Australia is a small market. diesels are hot sellers in europe. where apparently 75%+ of new cars sales are still manuals.

has the diesel Leggy got the CVT yet? It was first on the list so I'd be surprised the see the Foz jump the queue.

Ummm, methinks you have it mixed up... the headline for the linked article is "2013 Subaru Forester Diesel Manual-only, XV Sticking With Petrol". Or did TMR post an incorrect heading to begin with?

Default Auto/CVT Diesels

Unfortunately for Subaru, basically everyone else has one. Even Toyota, that paragon of no-diesel-in-our-passenger-type-vehicles, is bringing out a diesel with auto in the RAV4 in 2013.

If Toyota see a market for it Subaru really should be taking notice.
