I've booked my test drive for 3pm tomorrow with Keystar Rothwell ,my local dealer is not offering test drives until Saturday the 2nd Feb

I had about 5 mins to look at the cars, as they were parked out the back hidden out of view of the general public. I was the first customer to see them.

My observations were;

1. The larger size is obvious.
2. I wouldn't say they are 'Wow' cars. They look good, but don't really stand out.
3. The XT grill, is slightly different (looks better) than the NA grill.
4. The XT front bumper/lower front end looks good on the darker colours, gives it an aggressive look.
5. The black slits on each side of the front bumper/lower front end are fake and have no holes in them and look cheap up close.
6. Cars were locked so I couldn't sit in one, but looking through the windows the interior looks much better than the old one.
7. New wheels/rims look great.

I haven't got thr specs yet, but a review from Drive had the differences as,

"It’s available at two price levels. The Forester XT is $43,490, and gets 18-inch alloy wheels with a full-size spare, a sunroof, six-speaker stereo,

The bells-and-whistles Forester XT Premium is $50,490. Over the XT it gains an electric boot-lid, sat-nav, leather trim, heated front seats, power driver’s seat, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system, push-button start, auto headlights and wipers with de-icers, and the EyeSight safety system as standard."

Basically we've deen it before in the Impreza. Interestingly "Wheels" magazine in its latest review has said the interior is the 2nd worst of all the SUV's except for the awful Nissan X-Trail. Why don't Subaru look at the interior of a 5 year old VW Tiguan to see what classy design and quality materials can do?

I think Subaru want to create that utilitarian effect which might suit a few people but the market research folk don't seem to get that most of us buyers are in fact (ducking for cover) Mums and Dads.

Test drives done, if you get a chance I highly recommend having a test drive, both the 2.5i-L CVT and 2.0i XT Premium put big smiles on my face (The XT Premium is a Weapon ) and compared to the SH the SJ is a huge improvement with the suspension , steering , CVT and the sound insulation making the new beasts an absolute pleasure to drive.

I'm looking forward to picking up a 2.5i-L CVT as soon as possible ,BTW the L doesn't come with LED DRL's in the headlights.

Thanks for the photos Ian, I didn't get a chance to drive one today, hopefully tomorrow.

The Subaru web site had been updated to include all the details of the 2013 Forester.
