Ongoing updates of 1.1km steep uphill private test road. All test include 20km/h rolling start, Air conditioning is on. All speeds are indicated by speedo not GPS

They have done an XA kit which is a tune this week. MRT have just tuned my 09 FXT and found an extra 20kw They will guarantee 15kw, but may find more as they did with mine.![]() I can pick it up for the weekend and will drop it back Monday for the XB kit install. Then the following week for the XC kit install. New intake exhaust turbo intercooler and the rest. As we go I will try to post the dyno sheets and give some feedback. They are also fitting front and rear bars, front and rear camber ajustment, and a gearbox bushing kit to limit gearbox movement next week. Last edited by Faster; 07-08-2009 at 06:11 AM. |

It will be interesting to see what they come up with given that they can't just bolt on a VF30/34 like they used to!

You might reach 160-170kw at the hubs on MRT's dyno (approx 35-45kw more than standard, so approx 200-210 flywheel kw) but that's about it. The factory turbo will be the limiting factor in a big way. The MRT 04-08XT Power Kit info sheet sums it up perfectly when discussing the XB results (which retain the factory TD04L turbo): "And before you ask “why don’t you just crank the boost up more?” as a result of significant testing and development, it was confirmed that closer to 13.0 PSi was a better suited boost level. At around 14.5 PSi the turbo was already well and truly above its max efficiency level and not generating any more power. More boost is not always a good thing, in this case simply stressing the turbo and superheating air, meaning no additional power gains, greater risk of detonation and reduced turbo longevity!" Fitting a larger intercooler may help a tiny bit, but not a great deal.

Sorry I don't know which Turbo, but they are changing the turbo and intake and possibly the intake manifold. The MRT dyno is an interesting unit. As stated they remove the wheels and bolt up 4 units to each of the hubs. It will be interesting to see the graphs. I am talking Flywheel KW in my wish of 260kw. We will wait and see. Guinee pig = Half price parts, including suspension and brake parts, no labour costs, dyno and tune free, plus a couple of track days were mentioned early on. Brett seems like a great bloke and I am looking forward to the relationship over the next year or so. I have an uphill 400m track marked out locally( about 20% so a very steep grade) that I come onto at 20km/hr so I will give updated times and speeds with each kit. I will not do standing starts as my gearbox doesn't need the stress. |

You definitely won't achieve 260kW at the flywheel with the TD04 (it's a really small turbo) due to the turbo running out of puff as mentioned above. However it's nothing to be disappointed about. You should net something around the 200 flywheel kW mark with nice strong low-mid power and noticeably more top end than stock. The difference between standard will be chalk and cheese! You'll absolutely love it! If they bolt on a slightly larger turbo then you can realistically expect 240kw+ flywheel kW.

Looking at past kit prices its about $2300 fitted for the XA and call it $4000 fitted for the XB and $7000 for the XC. Excellent write up by auto speed here: Browser Warning
Interesting.... |

They are changing the turbo.. sorry if I wasn't clear in the last post. Quote:
260kw is the wish list figure. |

If they fit a large turbo then 260kw may be achieveable! If they fit an IHI VF series turbo I'd be VERY interested to hear which one they choose to install, along with the results (should be approx 180-190ish kw at the hubs).

Sounds good. My wife drives it during the week, but on weekends it is usually me driving. I will have the car this weekend with the MRT XA kit sorted.
I also found out yesterday that -1.75 degrees of camber is attainable with the stock ajustment pins on the front. I have had the guys give me max camber and zero out my toe. I will let you all know how it handles with the changes. Next week I will be doing F&R bars rear camber and also gearbox stiffening. |
