Hatch wont open? - SOLVED!

Came home and went to grab my bag out of the car but the hatch wouldn't move. It doesn't feel like the handle is moving anything, and there isn't the "pop" you hear when the latch releases. Has this happened to anyone? Personally I think its something wrong with the lock, and were having our first two 90+ degree days which has given my friends issues with locks on their vehicles in the past. Thought I'd ask before I tore my car apart trying to find a solution

i have had rthis happen to me twice.... i pulled the cover of the inside of the hatch and found if i slammed the hatch hard, the lock mechanism would pop off the little tab that unlocks the hatch handle. i tweaked it back to the right place ( plus a little more for some tension to keep it from happening) and have not had an issue since...

if you pull the little round cover on the inside of the hatch and stick your finger down in there (theres instructions on this in the owners manual, if you dnot have one i can post from mine) that you can manually unlock the door and then use the outside handle. then pull the interiorp panelling off the gate to get to the lock mechanism. that requires the removal of the interior handle, the 3 pop-lock fasteners along the bottom side and prying it loose from the hatch itself to release the hidden fasteners.

I had popped the round cover off and tried to find the latch release but couldn't find it. I'll check the manual

Good line of storms rolled through last night and made a good mess, trees down on cars/houses and i got the day off of school because they haven't gotten power back.

I did get my lock figured out...kinda. It suddenly started working again. There were some bits of safety glass in the hatch door from when a window broke a few years back and i think a piece got jammed in the mech.
