Factory UV/Tint Window Specs

I would like to share what I found out over the past few days about the Factory window tint and UVA/UVB blocking.

(I am not sure what the "read door partition glass" refers to however on the 2017.)

According to Subaru Of America,

2017 Forester Premium Windows:

UV penetration levels are listed below. These levels are what penetrate the glass.

Front windshield - 0% for both UVA and UVB
Front partition glass - 20% UVA and 1% UVB
Front door glass - 20% UVA and 1% UVB
Moonroof - 0% UVA & 1% UVB
Rear door glass with dark tint - 5% UVA & 1% UVB
Rear quarter glass with dark tint - 10% UVA & 1% UVB
Rear glass with dark tint - 10% UVA & 1% UVB

Listed below are the Visible Ray Light Transmittance Values:

Front windshield - 80%
Front partition window - 75%
Front door glass - 75%
Moonroof - 80%
Rear door glass with dark tint - 20%
Rear door partition glass with dark tint - 25%
Rear quarter glass with dark tint - 25%
Rear glass with dark tint - 30%

And for a 2014 Touring:

UV penetration levels are listed below. These levels are what penetrate the glass.

Front windshield - 0% for both UVA and UVB
Front partition glass - 10% UVA and 1% UVB
Front door glass - 10% UVA and 1% UVB
Moonroof - 0% UVA & 1% UVB
Rear door glass with dark tint - 10% UVA & 1% UVB
Rear quarter glass with dark tint - 10% UVA & 1% UVB
Rear glass with dark tint - 15% UVA & 1% UVB


Listed below are the Visible Ray Light Transmittance Values:

Front windshield - 80%
Front partition window - 75%
Front door glass - 75%
Moonroof - 80%
Rear door glass with dark tint - 25%
Rear quarter glass with dark tint - 25%
Rear glass with dark tint - 30%

Thank you for taking the time to contact Subaru of America, Inc. regarding the tint for the glass on our 2014 Forester 2.5i models.

All glass on the 2014 Forester models is tinted. We do have specifications showing the amount of tint.

For the 2014 Forester models, all trim levels come standard with rear privacy glass, except the base 2.5i models. The glass information listed below represents calculated reference values, and may not represent actual values determined by testing.

UV penetration levels are listed below. These levels are what penetrates the glass.

Front windshield - 0% for both UVA and UVB (all models)
Front partition glass - 10% UVA and 1% UVB (all models)
Front door glass - 10% UVA and 1% UVB (all models)
Moonroof - 0% UVA & 1% UVB (all models) (moonroof standard, expect on base 2.5i models)

Rear door glass with light tint - 30% UVA & 1% UVB (2.5i models)
Rear door glass with dark tint - 10% UVA & 1% UVB (all models but base)

Rear quarter glass with light tint - 30% UVA & 1% UVB (2.5i models)
Rear quarter glass with dark tint - 10% UVA & 1% UVB (all models but base)

Rear glass with light tint - 30% UVA & 1% UVB (2.5i models)
Rear glass with dark tint - 10% UVA & 1% UVB (all models but base)

Moonroof - 80% (all models) (moonroof standard, expect on base 2.5i models)

Rear door glass with light tint - 25% (2.5i models)
Rear door glass with dark tint - 80% (all models but base)

Rear quarter glass with light tint - 25% (2.5i models)
Rear quarter glass with dark tint - 80% (all models but base)

Rear glass with light tint - 30% (2.5i models)
Rear glass with dark tint - 17% (all models but base)
