Hi all,

I've just acquired a 2007 Forester 2.0x with the normally aspirated engine. As I live in the Philippines, where temperatures range from 25 to 35 degrees C, what weight synthetic oil would be recommended?

Also, what H1 and HB3/9005 bulbs would anyone recommend? I don't like the bluish "rice rocket" look, but would like brighter bulbs for my old eyes.

Thanks in advance for the advice. I did several forum searches, but recommendations are all over the place, and not many owners of the 2.0, it seems.

Hi there!

You are not alone.. My ride is an '06 2.0X as well.. and I'm from sunny Singapore.
For a start, there is a folder for 2L NA frozzies, http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f158/lonely-50402/

And would also like to introduce Forester Forum in Singapore, SUBARU FORESTER, SINGAPORE - Login

Coming to your queries.. I'm not too sure on the oil, but I'm on 5W-40, but surely would like to try thinner oils someday..
As for the bulbs, I'm on Osram Night Breaker and they seemed to have better throw than the others; and they ain't bluish or white-ish..

I used to own a BMW and used Osram NightBreaker globes in all my head lights. I found that they were very bright and gave an almost HID quality light. Sadly I could only find a NightBreaker in H1, for my FXS low beams, but Osram does not make HB3 and HB4 for the high beams and fogs! If anyone finds out differently, please let me know!
