Default What is the difference between '03 '06 '08 Forester Subwoofer

Hi!

Somebody knows what is the difference between '03, '06 and '08 Forester Subwoofer?

I need to know if there have another switch or watts.

I want to buy it, but the price is most expensive in my country.

Thanks!!

The '03 had a powered subwoofer placed under passenger seat here in the States. The '06-'08 has a 6"x9" speaker... called a subwoofer mounted in the cargo area, which is powered by the factory/OEM head unit.

I had the factory/OEM subwoofer in my '03 X, now my son's Forester & I had the subwoofer in the cargo area in my '07 FSXT. Both were poor compared to an aftermarket powered subwoofer.

You can view my Kenwood Powered subwoofer installation write up here.

For an aftermarket Subwoofer, no harness is requird. The Kenwood subwoofers we installed in our Foresters can accept high level speaker input or low level RCA inputs. If your head unit has a subwoofer out, then you can use the low level RCA connections. If not, you tap onto the speaker outputs, running those to the subwoofer.

You won't use the factory harness, for sure

Most aftermarket subs come with their own harness. Typically, this is one wire to the battery, a pair of wires to the low level connectors on back of the aftermarket HU, one more wire to the back of the HU (for off/on control) and a multi-conductor telco wire to a smallish volume control box. If you wire through the speakers (and not to low-level outputs on aftermarket HU), then there are separate wire sets for that.

For the '06 cargo area speaker, Is there a harness adapter that goes from the Subaru plug behind the radio to a pair of RCA connectors? Or to anything useful?
