Question Stupid Question: All Weather Package

I was just wondering if a dealer could install the all-weather package as an option on the base 2.5x 09 forester. I just really dont want to pay about 2.5k for the premium package when I only want to get the all weather package and nothing else.

Now I know that the base 2.5x comes with the cutout in the center armrest area for where the seat warmer controls would go so that will make it easier.

I think that this is doable because if a buyer wants the premium package and opts for the all weather option, I think it would be stupid if the dealer would have to find one with the all weather option already in one from the factory. So I would tend to think then that the dealers must do this on the premium package foresters and thus could do it on any model.

If they can do this, any idea how much it would cost?

Thanks

Jtom,
I bought my new forester just two weeks ago and there were some Limited's on the lot with the all weather package. So, yes, it is possible. I don't recall the actual price, however.

The all weather package includes heated seats, heated mirrors and heated windshield area where the wipers sit. The heated seats could probably be done. The mirrors, maybe. The windshield, not without changing the windshield.

I'd guess if all you wanted was heated seats, they could do that for you. If you want the other stuff it might be cheaper just to get the premium package.

Yes heated seats can be added.I have done a few Foresters for my local dealer here in wenatchee.

Very easy to do just takes time.

Thats good to hear, I actually primarily wanted the heated seats. Wouldnt the dealer have to remove the windshield for all of the premium package buyers who want the all weather option?

Having the other two options is not really a big deal, as long as the heated seats can be done, I really dont mind.

Anyone else?

Thanks!

I recall my seat warmer went bad and got a quote from the dealership ..... $700.00 aprox part/labor included. So it would be $1400 for you at least on the seat warmers only. Add the switches, some possible extra wiring, the windshield (mine had a crack and got a quote from dealer, aprox $800 part only), both mirrors + all the labor.

In my opinion, you may wind up paying way much more at the end

What you could also try is to get some of the parts online (used if possible)and have the dealer/independent shop install the parts for ya
Good luck

I guess I am just not sure at this point whether dealers install the all weather package themselves or whether it is a factory only option. If its a factory only option then I can see it being alot more, but I dont see how a dealer could charge 2-3 times more for the all weather package since they are installing it on a model that technically shouldnt get it.

So is the OEM seat warmers on the forester a factory only option? At this point I am only interested in the OEM seat warmers. I assumed if the all weather option for the premium package is $400 and is also a dealer installed option, then installing it on a non premium package model would also cost $400. However, if the all weather package can only be put on at the factory, then I could see it costing alot more for the dealer since they have to order the parts etc.

Thanks

Thats too bad that its a factory only option, which means the dealer would have to buy all the parts at high prices and they would charge for labor.

Yea I mean paying full price for each part individually plus labor I would say it would cost at least $800+ when all is said and done, and whether that can be included in the price of the vehicle is another story.

Well maybe I should consider the 09 OBS. I really am not sure about the two tone look, in some pics I have seen it looks really bad but in others it looks decent. I would only be interested in the silver or black.
