Should be a t15 or t20 bit & your plugs should swap from one to the other if you have the auto dim/compass mirror.

IIRC some have cracked their windshield putting these on. I can't remember if the bracket was overtightened or what...:(

I attempted it but quit as we had to do some b day traveling/spending. I will do it tomorrow.

I have no opener for my 2nd garage door. The insructions say hold the opener near the mirror.....So im thinking i maybe screwed into buying an opener anyways.

Here where I read about the cracked windshield http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulle...18/#post434412

If you start at the top of the thread, it has a very good write up on how to install it...:)

Got the mirror installed. Have a few small issues. The compass is off, so it needs reset. The mirror itselfseems loose. The top has a slight shake to it, and nothing is programmed yet.

Did you replace the inside clip. The 2 mirrors use different clips, atleast that the 09 mirrors. Should be the same in earlier models, like yours, but I am not sure.
