I built it twice as wide to fit two drivers and coated it in Duratex and put some wheels on it to make it easier to move in and out of my car for DJ events. It's not designed to be a PA sub, but I am a DJ and have used it for >200 person events with success. It pops balloons at 35v and cracked some drywall in the corner of my room.

But yes, I built it myself and it's not commercially available, so it's custom.

Yes that is a DC/AC converter powering it. Ghetto as heck, but I don't have a car amplifier yet. The DC/AC converter only puts out about 10v, which is still enough for mind numbing volume in the car. Whatever works.

Now post up your system!
Where to begin... 60+hrs of sound deadening... close to 4K in sound deadening products..

Pioneer DEH-80PRS HU active 3way to
SoundStream THE CONTINUUM 5ch (circa 1995) powering
Fountec FR88EX 3" extended range (tweeter-less)
Pioneer TSD-720PRS 6.75" midabss
Pyle PLWB 15 in Infinite Baffle

More tricks than your local hooker...

This vid is pretty old, a lot has changed, a lot has stayed the same... dumped my Alpine HU/HDD/Processor combo for a single DIN Pioneer HU (with more function, not quite the same capability)

It's not a Fozzy, so I refrain from posting it here..

Very clean install. I like it!

And I don't want to sound like I'm hating, because that's just not what I do. But I have to ask this: why spend 4 grand in deadening just to skimp out on the rest of the system(comparatively)? Unless the deadening wasn't specifically for the sounds?

The sound deadening and vibration dampener is probably the single most overlooked necessity for a quality acoustical upgrade. A properly sealed and deadened door, can take even "entry" level components, and make them sound better than most high end pieces.

in my journal you can see what i did with my sub install. No full detailed write up yet been little busy. My camera is full of car mod pic just no time for good write up.

My subwoofer gain is control by head unit . Most pioneers have the ability to adjust output to amp so with dedicated sub amp its preety easy to control from headunit. In the past before this feature became popular in head units i used a control knob but hated them

I've ordered the Diamond Audio Hex Shallow 12", Helix E12W, and Kenwood KFC-XW1200F Shallow 12" subwoofers. Need to listen to each, and then go from there as far as which to use. Planning on putting a sub above the spare tire, but under the rear floor. The storage tray will serve as a mold to build the enclosure, and also house the amplifier. Still working out the lifting system, as I want it easy to access the spare tire when needed.

Detail.. something you dont get in your car because its so dam loud and everything vibrates violently..

Im also running ~700w TOTAL...

You say "skimping" while ive spent copious amounts of time picking out components to do exactly what I want...

Im not taking any offence as long as you dont take offence to me calling you a "bass head"

I got my JL 8w7 ordered and waiting to see if I win the sub amp Im bidding on. I won a matching 2 channel today. I got a pretty sick idea for my amp rack. Just going to take some time before I get it all together.

Like most subs, they probably don't make much noise in free air, other than a bit of "woofing" noise from the excursion. At least when I'm breaking my drivers in in free air they don't make much noise. I'm also curious as to why you chose to go with cheaper Pyle drivers for such a nice install. Some Sundown SAs would make that setup sing.
