OK...mine had been acting up lately and I tried resetting the solder joints per the description.

So far so good ....the clock seems to be back to full working order.

Thanks ...clearly saved some $$$$

Nice man! Glad I came back to the forum and thought to search for a clock fix. 510 was actually loose inside the clock holder. Resoldered and so far so good. The other connections were still nice and shiny, so I chose to leave them alone.

Not sure what was ambiguous about the first post in this thread. I used those instructions and pictures and had no problems. I have put 400 miles on my car since the repair and the clock has worked just fine.

Mine's busted too, but my solder joints look okay and don't seem to be loose! Any of you have any suggestions?
Also, I lost one of the little button pieces - does anyone have any extras (if I can get mine working again that is)?

Chris

If you don't feel like soldering and such, just buy another clock! They pop up used at NASIOC all the time. it's the same part used in the impreza through (at least) 2005. I actually got one out of a 2004 STI - when I bought my forester the clock was missing. It cost me $15, IIRC. Also, since it was an STI part, it totally added 10hp.

Thanks, Senor, I'll find a glass and check it out.

By the way, anyone know where I can find one of the grey rubber parts for a button on my clock

Send me a SASE envelope, and you can have one or two or three.

I have two clocks that just need the solder job done (it was obvious), and they'll be ready to go.

S_Chick...let me know if you want one, I'll sell it to you pretty inexpensively.

Roo,
Thanks! PM or email me your address and I'll send a SASE to you right away.

Just like everyone else, Thanks so much for the info. We were also ready to buy a $50 clock. Even though my husband is an Electrical Engineer and an Electronic Tech. he hadn't looked into what might have gone wrong.
I found your post and did exactly what you did and I now have my clock back.

By the way there is a design flaw in the board that is causing the 510 ohm resistor to get too hot. We will all most likely have to do this again in a few years but who cares, now that we know how to fix it.

Again a big thanks goes out to you for posting this.

Popped mine open today and 510 was indeed broken. A little soldering and I was good to go; thanks to this forum!
