Noob Here - '99 Forester Bad Overhead Clock

I have seen the post for resoldering the overhead clock and I have inspected my Forester and it looks like I could probably fix it in the same way. But its just a clock, seems like a waste of a lot of space. Is there something more functional I could put in there like clock plus thermometer? If so, where would I get something like that? Has anyone done any DIY replacements? Maybe clock plus garage door opener?

I don't think there's anything currently available like what you're describing (there was once a multi-readout gauge thingy that went there, but it's no longer in production).

If you want to fab something up, you can find sun visors on eBay or at a junkyard that have HomeLink universal garage door openers in them. If you're handy you might be able to hack one up and wire it in.
