My mother's 2007 forester had this chime problem, but I never knew until I was with her and she was complained about it. I had read this thread (even tho my Fozzy doesn't have the issue) and fixed it no problem. Many thanks from my mother!

I was thinking to myself that I have no clue what everyone is griping about - simply buckle up and you get no noise. So then I decided to see what the big deal was and left mine unbuckled until after I started the car. Guess what? No indicator light and no chime. In fact, I don't ever remember seeing/hearing those for the 4 years I've had the car. Without climbing down to look at it (it's cold outside and I'm a weenie), seems like mine was been disconnected/broken before I even bought it! Whoopsie!

Different Model Year and trim levels could be different. Are the factory service manuals and eletrical wiring diagrams for the Forester available for purchase?

Mines done! Thanks! Had to pinch the plug with a pliers though. Was pretty tough.

I can't express the sheer joy of not having to hear that dang chime!! :D

Here's a pic for reference...........

Well, after all this time mine is finally getting to me...going to yank the plug. Thanks for the searching and pics, Manny.

I'm all for shutting up the chime, but doesn't the airbag determine what force to use party based on whether you're wearing your seatbelt or not?

LOL No worries Will. If someone else can enjoy the silence too, then that makes me happy.

Worked like a charm on my '08. The silence is golden. Just follow the wiring from the seat belt under the seat to the white clip and disconnect it. My ears thank you scoob02!

Wow - I am soooo thankful for this tip!!! My set-up was as in Manny's pictures, and I used pliers to pull the plug. Then... nothing but silence...

That chime was seriously obnoxious. The kicker for me was that it beeped relentlessly even if the car was in park, or there was no one in the driver's seat. Talk about a design flaw.

Does the back piece of the housing come off/snap off to access the wires easier? I pulled the rubber down but the two little black wires still continued up into the housing. There's also a larger wrapped wire that looks like it may have a few wrapped up..it's the two little black ones though right? Can't see up into the housing well enough to distinguish which one..will try again later~
Thx
