iphone & 2017 Forester Touring - cannot get text or emails

Hello and help please: I have an iphone5..it pairs with the 2017 Forester fine with calls...very clear etc., but I cannot get text or emails....I went by Subaru today and my salesman helped me, and he couldn't get it to work either. His Android worked fine....so my question is do I need to upgrade to Iphone 7 to be able to get text and email messages, or is it the Subaru that is not updated for iphone ? Anyone else have a iphone5 that you can get messages or text...anybody with a Iphone 7 with it all working ?

Thanks....have a great weekend !

my 6s works fine.

Go to settings, Bluetooth settings

push the i icon on the right side of car multimedia

enable text messages

Try that

The salesman and I did all the proper settings....still doesn't work. Incoming and outgoing calls are great, phonebook and contacts fine, just can't get text or email

Im having the same problem with my 6s. I can even send texts but can't revieve them. Not a huge deal but it would be nice if it worked.

Maybe complaining finally paid off. The incoming text messages just started working again out of the blue, I had given up on it, I dont text much anyway. They have been working for 2 days now.

It happened to me once in awhile. But to think that u are always connected? Think again. Sometimes bt stack needs to be restarted and everything works fine.

The iPhone 5 and 5s doesn't have the right Bluetooth bits to support text or email. The 6, 6s, and 7 (and the corresponding Plus models) do.

From the iPhone, tap on settings>Bluetooth. Tap on the little "i" icon under Subaru BT. The slider for "Show Notifications" is off by default. Turn it on and you should be able to set up text and email.

Use the cable and plug into the USB port and use "Car Play" or equivalent. Bluetooth doesn't have enough bandwidth to do the job properly.

Be careful what you wish for.
