The enclosure strength/rigidity is directly proportional to it's ability to contain low bass resonance. Also a flexing enclosure will have decreased output and a negative effect on sound clarity.
From what I remember the Kicker C8 does fairly well free air (highish QTC value) so you might want to try using it unenclosed. Just dampen the body panels w/ raammat and make sure that the front sound wave of the sub is sealed off from the rear wave.

How far are you guys from Great America in San Jose and Waterworld waterpark in Concord? I can't call it summer until I ride a few Rollercoasters and waterslides!

i know this is an old thread, but for those of you who are curious, here's what a 10" sub looks like in the side location with fiberglass.... i like the final results, but it was a total pita to do.. esp since it was my first time working with it!
started off the same as everyone else... except i used second skin. ![]() ![]() and the fiberglass.... ![]() some polyfill... don't know if this does much, but... ![]() and the finished product with a JL 10W1 ![]() |

Mannylegacy-
It looks like he just used put the upholstry back in place and used the OEM sub grill. ROK3479- Nice work on the 10"!! Do you have any problems with the cone hitting the upholstry? When I pickup an FXT I think I'm going to do dual 10" subs. I've done eight installs so far with 8" subs and they sound great, but on my own car I think I want a little bit more.

just put the original stuff back together. nothing fancy here. no problems with the cone hitting the upholstry either. i actually think there may be a leak in my fiberglass tho, cause the sub doesn't sound as loud or deep as i thought it would be. but then again, i'm comparing it to the 12" i had before, so.
here are some pics w/ the upholstry. ![]() ![]() |

hahaha.... i'm in san bernardino. i wouldn't mind helping you out, but it was really a huge pita... especially with the fiberglass. if you went without the fiberglass like the other guys with just the raamat.. it won't be nearly as bad. i was just concerned with the stuff flexing with the sub, but i think i made the fiberglass with some leaks anyway, so i guess so much for that solution! where are you located?
