Default Front speakers for SF

Anyone know what aftermarket speakers that just fits in the front doors in a 99 SF. I bought some pioneer speakers for a while ago. But they are like very small and don't really fit becouse of the mounting holes are all wrong. So I ended up with one mounting hole correct and the two other with some improvised mounting that really ain't very good over time.

I know in the US the front speakers are 6.5 inch. I bought some pioneer speakers for my 99 forester and they fit fine? I wonder if you're stock ones are different

I think the ones that was on was maybe 6.5 but the ones that are on now is barely 5 to get them in the plastic mount. biggest problem with them is that the speakers only got 4 mounting holes while the ones that was on has a bunch so mounting them is a problem when they are fastened with 3 mounting points, not 4.

Did you reuse the mounting bracket of the stock speakers? That's what will fit in the (Three) holes that's within the door.

I've got a few pairs of 5.25 or 5.5" speakers in my Acura that I wouldn't mind transferring to the Subaru.. anyone figure there would be problems with that? or could I just get a conversion type ring for the speakers..

I've been trying to find out answers for all sorts of questions I've got with this new Subaru thing..

I ran 5.25" in the front doors of my SF back in the late 90s. They fit pretty well in the factory ring.

Could you just add a hole?

Lol, you don't get it. The speakers don't have that nice round line around with holes. it has these 4 mounting holes sticking out. so I only got 4 holes anyway at all while the plastic bracket has 3. So only one will fit while the other 2 is out of place.

can't just drill new holes in the spacer?

/even if you did that, will the speaker seal against the spacer?

I recall when changing the front speakers in the Grand Vitara that even tho they were 6.5" units, they were a "special" size and fitment- Japanese only. Got some Sonys at the time...

i guess i'm not getting it. got pictures? i want to see if the available holes look different than my SONY xplodes.

the last set of speakers i put in, only 1 hole lined up. i spun it till i found more holes lined up, but i had to cut like 2 pieces of plastic off. they were like toothpick-sized.

I will try get pictures soon. Anyway you see those blue speakers above. Those would fit nice becouse in the ring that goes around the speaker it's full of holes. Mines do have this ring to, exept it's no holes in it. It only got these four small outstickers with holes in them making the speaker to fit even smaller then original. If the speaker had only 3 mounting holes I'm sure it would fit. But it got 4 like 2 up and 2 down only equally spaced from eachother. So the 3 holes in the spacer ain't fitting at all exept one hole of course.

I improvised and stole a link from some speakers. These are not the ones I have but they do have the same mounting system. (Basically)

Edit: I think I found around the exact type of speakers I have
