Default fix CD player?

I have a 04 6 CD changer but the CD portion of it does not work.

Does anyone know or have a clue on how to fix it? Would it be worth it to bring it into a dealership to get fixed?

I'm not familiar with people having luck fixing the units. I'd look at aftermarket headunits or if you like the 6cd unit, pick up a used one.

the most common issue is when a disk will not eject. I've seen a video of someone slapping the side of the console just after pressing the eject button. That made it pop out :) hardly a fix though. Honestly, you can search around and get a used unit pretty cheap. Still an aftermarket unit will be your best bet. You can get a harness to wire up to the new head unit and it will plug right into the OEM harness.

Whats not working on it? Does it whirr for a while but not actually do anything or take new discs? When I got my newer headunit with aux in, the cd player portion wouldn't work. It ended up being that a cam with 2 linkages had gotten jammed facing the wrong way, possibly during shipping. I just opened it up and plugged it in and looked and all the things that were moving and tried to find what was making it stop.

When I try to use the CD portion, nothing happens. No motor whirr or nothing, but the FM/AM and weatherband work...

I have a OEM Subby radio out of a 92 svx with the accessory cd player. I believe it works, and it's black. I do not know whether or not it takes the same plug. Is this in your 98? If you're interested, I'll sell it for FREE plus shipping.

Well, the reason I am so dead set on this radio is because I already have a wire that I can use for the 04 radios, so I can slip a black CD in and use that wire I have to play my iPod...

I actually have the 6disc changer out of my 04XT just sitting around right now (installed a newer one with the aux input). PM me if interested, I'd probably let it go pretty cheap if you send me your broken one.
