Unhappy Bluetooth Phone Book Sync

Hey guys,

I'm new to Subaru and new to this forum.

I just got my '14 Forester 2.5i (base model) and went to sync my phone (Samsung galaxy s3). The phone syncs just fine; however, the phone book does not. Does anyone know how I can sync my contacts? Or is the Forester's system phone book not able to sync to cell phone contacts... I find this really hard to believe that I can't import or sync them.

You can send them via Bluetooth, at least on the Premium.

As far as I can tell, you can only send phone contacts one at a time.

I have the XTP Touring. All my contacts send in one go. Every time the car starts again, the HU automatically updates any contact I've changed on my phone.

Phonebook to sync? I can't even get my 2 year old Samsung Convoy to sync. Dealer says phone is outdated and to get a new phone, lol, lol. Good answer to get me off his back! The whole bluetooth phone thing with the new Subaru is kind of flakey. Took the salesman about 3 tries to get his new phone to sync. I just use my phone like I used while driving, no big deal.

After you link the phone to the headunit, send via Bluetooth from the phone.

Everytime I've tried to send a contact via bluetooth my phone tells me to disconnect bluetooth device first. I think there's some kind of conflict with phone/audio. I'm trying to do this with an older phone too. I've even deleted it from the audio first so it would only be recognized as a phone... but nope just doesn't work.

I have the annoying problem that my HTC One phone book syncs with HU but not all of the contacts actually transfer. Based on a quick check of the 2000+ entries in my phone's contact list I've determined that most, but not all, are in the HU. The other day I tried to call my daughter and no matter what I tried the Voice Recognition would not pick up her or her husband's name. Today I discovered that neither of them are in the contacts in the HU, which is why the Voice Recognition isn't working. Not sure yet how to address this.

Follow-up - spent a couple of hours deleting old contacts out of my Outlook then updated my HTC. Must have removed a few hundred contacts. This morning I updated the contacts in the Head Unit and all of my missing contacts appeared. I suspect that there is a limit to the number of contacts that the HU will accept.
