Default Automatic headlights

My mother is looking at buying a 2013 Forester and she said she was really surprised they didn't have automatic headlights??

I was too, was she missing it somewhere? She is looking at buying the limited or touring model, but I believe she was test driving a prenium at the time.

My outback has them, I would have thought the Forester would have it as well.

My old LGT had them and they were terrible. I'm glad the forester doesn't have them.

I have it on my 13' outback and they work fine. I can even adjust the sensor sensitivity with the dash menu which is more then I've seen on other cars.

I never turn my headlights off and love that they go off with the ignition

We have the automatic headlights on our '11 Outback, but we never use them, since we have HID headlamps installed. The tendency of the automatic lights to turn on and off with all the trees up here (we live in the mountains) is hard on HIDs.

As for our Forester, we don't miss the feature at all, since on it and the Outback, the lamps go off with the key if we forget to switch them off.

There are automAtic headlights in the 13 forester. When in drive the high mean has a low wattage mode that throws some light out so people can see you

Ah..that was my biggest complaint on my 2010 LGT. They were too sensitive and there was no way to adjust them.

These are actually DRLs (daytime running lamps) which are required in Canada and I believe in most of the United States now.

The automatic headlamp feature is a third position on the light switch which just above the headlamp "on" position. This position causes the lights to come on automatically when it starts getting dark out, or you drive into a tunnel, for instance.

As others have said, the '13 Forester has them. What is probably throwing you off is other models have an "always on" setting, while these work essentially the same way as the "automatic" settings on other models. I had an '11 and had to figure it out on my '13 Forester, but I like them.
