Instead of modifying the factory radio for aux in I'm just going to buy a new head unit since I want blue tooth also. Does anyone have any good recommendations for single DIN head units with aux in and blue tooth? It would be sweet if the head unit accepted a mic so you could make phone calls through it too. My biggest concern is that it looks good and fits well with the dash. Most after market head units look tacky w/ a million color lights on them and what not. I would like to keep it under $300.

I've got a Kenwood BT848 in my dash. Bluetooth calling works well, iPod integration is decent and it has a nice screen that has more than 8 characters to actually show you useful information from your phone or iPod. The display colors have about 30+ tints. Around #18/19 is a good match for Subaru gauge green.
They have newer/flashier models with color screens and whatnot but I got the 848 BNIB for $90 on eBay. I should add that my only complaint about it is that the iPod integration is ONLY via the front USB port. I didn't realize that at the time and my hopes of routing a dock cable up to the dash cubby to hide it were (ahem) dashed. I got a $1 6" dock cable on ebay though and it hides in the din pocket just fine.

I'm a big fan of Pioneer right now... the Kenwood/JVC link bothers me... (they are one in the same)
I've got a DEH-80PRS and my GF has a AV3300 something something... My 80PRS streams music via BT.. hers doesnt.. We BOTH had JVC(Kenwood) prior, her, all of a WEEK, me all of a MONTH.. before they got replaced with Pioneer.. Go somewhere and look at them, check out features.. I have to agree ^^^ I've used that head unit and loved it. Great features, and amazing sound quality.

So I know you guys don't like Kenwood, but this was by far the best looking head unit with all the requirements I want. Last yrs version of it also got the best scores for bluetooth pairing and ease of use. The best part is, it works with android, iphone, and blackberry. Sold, I'm picking one up this weekend.
