I'm tempted to try this out later this month. I have a few road trips coming down the line so I don't want to brick my head unit before then LOL.

Looking at the download files it appears this is for the 7" units w/Navi. I have the 7" w/o Navi and am reluctant to do this without consulting the dealer.

Reading the TSB linked in the video this should be covered by the 3/36. I would have the dealer do it so all you are out is a service appointment.

If you follow the video the update wasn't bad at all. Did the update to get the mirrorlink app to work. Disappointed with the
app and really not worth the effort to up date the head unit.

That was my assessment after getting the info and files necessary... then reading further. Not worth the effort.

As it is I'm satisfied with my OEM status... I have all the apps and information I need now. My Starlink, through my MYSubaru app, lets me lock or unlock my FXT remotely, sound the horn and lights, and locate it anywhere. My Nav has been flawless, my music choices are many, the sound is good, phone integration perfect, and all in all I want for nothing an update can provide.

Just confirmed with my dealer that this update is covered under the 3/36. Made an appointment for 3/17 they will install the update while she is in for an oil service.

For those not wanting to do this and "bricking" the head unit. Your local dealer will do it.

That said, the most recent headunit software listed at this link for the '17 Foresters with Navigation is NU9407. When I went to install this on my '17 Forester XT this evening, I got to this screen which said that I already had version NU9407.

I have the NU9407 version of the Navigation/Infotainment. My Mirrorlink does not seem to work. When I plug into the USB, my Galaxy S7 smartphone tells me it is going into Mirrorlink mode. The icon on the 7" display remains dimmed. I loaded the RockScout (by Mirrorlink) app on the phone and it did activate the Mirrorlink app in the car. It showed the one app, Rockscout that I could launch, but it wanted me to have other apps to use any media. So something will activate it. I tried running MySubaru, but that doesn't help.

I tried running Starlink on my phone, then connected via USB. After selecting STARLINK a while, it displayed in the 7",
Quote:
Please disconnect mobile device and install the SUBARU STARLINK application on your mobile device and try again.
Bluetooth disconnected, please reconnect and try again.
Smartphone data connection is poor, please try to connect again.
Bluetooth WAS connected and I could play songs. Bluetooth pairing works great!
My goal is to be able to plug my phone into the USB, see my phone screen, browse and play music or receive calls, AND charge the phone.

The menus from HOME + 5 presses of the upper right knob is interesting. Diagnostics describe a couple of gyros. Is this part of vehicle stability control? Too bad they can't show actual tire pressure with their sensors--it would beat getting my hands dirty.
