From what i've read in the Japanese Media over the past few days they say that the death toll might top 20,000 but have so far only confirmed 1,300 dead as yet. Although there are lots of people missing there is still a problem with communications as the mobile and phone networks in this area are still down.

If you want the most upto date news on whats happening might I suggest these sites.

I've given up on the UK, Satellite channels as there full of rumours and mis-information, not saying the stuff on the sites above is 100% true but it seems more accurate than whats being reported on UK TV!

Such a terrible tradegy...

This one hit closer to home when I found out that I had some friends that were connecting through Tokyo Narita for New York JFK when the earthquake started. They were already on the plane waiting to push back when the first wave of quakes hit so they ended up staying on the plane instead of evacuating onto the tarmac like the rest of the airport. They said the first hit got really bad and kept going for a long time. Also that the aftershocks kept on coming one after the other.

I wasn't suprised when the experts found out that Japan moved 8ft toward America and changed the rotation of the earth after hearing all the accounts of how big this quake was.
