Compared to the VF28, the 30 is a crazy *** M*****er, or in other words, not as refined. Pickup is about 500 rpm higher and more of it too. Good news to actually find the cause. Girlies, eh?

Badly rusted, he put his screwdriver straight through it when he checked how solid it was!

It was the head gasket after all!!
They do a test & if its a certain colur its time for the head gaskets to be replaced. What thet think happened was after the water pump went, it looked for the weak spot in the HG, and away it went. She had been losing power using a bit of oil, as i said we thought it was the turbo & after cahnging it & the water paump I still noticed white smoke out of the exhaust. Hopefully with the new gaskets we can get the power back & no more oil use etc? ATVB. AM |

pay the extra for cosworth stopper gaskets don't think it's a great deal more over standard(don't know if you buy into the replace mains for a propper hg job ethos but it maybe worth a research, may have been just my bad luck but wish i'd had em done when litchfeilds were paying as it was only an extra couple of hundred).good luck un-fortunetly not gonna cost £60 just try not to get drawn into "oh while were in there do you want us to......." atb,

Had mine completely stripped and inspected. Replaced the mains and that was all - they weren't even that bad. Waste of time really but I suppose I know it's all OK now. Actually I had a clutch and timing kit but they would've needed doing soon anyway so I saved money. That's how I looked at it anyway.

So, went there today, they fitted a nearly new clutch (when he had the egine out, said clutch plate was very nearly gone) I saw. The one they took. Out & it was shot.
So. New Head gaskets & clutch. ( I paid for head. Gasket parts) I got change out of £800. When I canafford it, remap. It goes brill compared to before. ATVB AM |
