Default Twin rear fogs on my SF.

This little project has been on the cards for a while now, so i finally got round it. More than one heart stopping moment whilst cutting the hole in the bumper, but it balances up the back end nicely. What do you think?

I'll get a night shot later on.

I was wanting to do that years ago but couldn't find a fog lamp that had any sort of fitting kit to hold it in the bumper SO.....what did you buy, where from, how fitted ? All the details please.

The fog light and the shroud are OEM off ebay. The bracket is attatched to it and needed bending a little to get it to sit right in the hole. I just extended the wiring coming from the light and spliced it to the wiring for the other in the boot(1 black with white stripe, 1 red with green stripe). I also replaced the bolts which hold it to the bumper as they were starting to rust.(1" full thread coach bolts sprayed satin black) As for making the hole, i removed the origional light and made a template by taping a piece of writing paper over the hole and rubbing my finger over the edges, cut this out and traced around it on the other side. It doesn't have to be too precise as you can cut bits off to fit the shroud correctly.

If you're gonna do it, TAKE YOUR TIME.

Ah, on a closer and more studied look , the bumper on your car is different to the JDM one. Mine has no indentations/recesses. It looks as if yours has a moulding to fit the lights into, mine is flat, hence how to hold the light in ?

Cheers

been thinking about doing that but making the other one a reversing light as the back of our house is like a black hole at night and the standard reversing lights are no brighter than a candle! a 2 million candle power bulb should do the trick

No difference in the bumper, it just had 2 coach bolts going through the bumper on iether side of the light to the bracket behind.

Wink

Sound promising then. So the bolt heads that are visible on each side hold a bracket against the inside of the bumper clamping the light unit in place ? What are the surrounds around the light then, the little lip all the way round?
And finally ( sorry, I know, a real pain) could you post up the ebay link so I can see just what it is to look for.

Many thanks

Brian

The surround is a push in seperate piece, and the stock Sccob carriage bolts are rubbish they all go rusty after a while, it looks less profesional than some of teh converted Greys I've seen!

Excellent!

Question for our European friends:

What's the factory rear-fog setup on the SH?

I'm a firm believer in rear fog(s), so much so that I added it to both my wife's now off-lease WRX sedan as well as my BL-Legacy (I was so fanatical about this that I actually pursued the LHD conversion of a JDM tail-light setup on my BL, which now has been modified with the BL-"Blitzen" lighting pattern, and is further supplemented with a 12-element high-intensity LED in the clear-lens'ed center signal area).

I wanted to add PIAA's DENO-3 setup to the hatch of my wife's SH-FXT, but if there's a cleaner solution available, I'd love to see it.
