Trading in a FSTi (or any JDM car)

After much procrastination and wringing of hands, I think I may have found the FSTi's successor (I know it'll be hated by many, so I'm keeping it to myself for now).

I now need to decide if I can go through with it and, assuming I can, work out the smoothest path to make the change.

Does anyone have any experience of trading in a FSTi with a dealer/trader?

I accept I won't get the top price and am fine with that to get a deal away swiftly. However, I'm worried that given the FSTi isn't all that well known a car, the offer will be very poor. I'm not letting it go for peanuts just to get a deal done!

Selling privately is just a bore and will inevitably mean dealing with time wasters, dreamers and idiots. I don't have masses of spare time, so the prospect is not appealing.

I realise it's a small pool of people who are likely to have been faced with this problem, but I'm all ears.

Be easy to trade it into a JDM importer/dealer for any other JDM :D

Can we have a poll/multi choice line up of cars and then pick which one we think you might have gone for?

Talk to Hurst cars, they gave me the best offer when I was contemplating to part exchange it for a Spec C.
Litchfield were taking the piss.
Worth talking to other traders that sell FSTis e.g. Torque GT.
What price do you have in mind? PM me.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten you went to Hurst. Did they offer to take it even though you weren't buying from them? I've clearly forgotten the detail!

I'm not looking for mega bucks for it. It's a good car, but I'm realistic. It has 91k miles and is fairly standard, so won't attract the premium that some do. That said, I'm not going to give it away.

I'll email you later on today (or more likely later in the week when I'm on leave).

It's perfect for you if you're looking to get back in the game as the suspension is still OE and will probably soon need refreshing... which you'd do anyway

I think the price was for a part exchange but I am not 100% sure as it was a while ago indeed!
Worth speaking to them.
OK, speak later via e-mail.

I feel like it would be a lot easier and beneficial to you to sell it lower than the recommended value privately than trade it in. I think there are plenty of people that would scoop it up for more than a dealer will value it at, but less than market value just to get you out of it.

I totally understand not wanting to deal with time waster and what not, but if you price it at a sweet spot you'd have plenty of serious people that would love to get in to it for cheaper than they normally would. But you'd still be happy because it would be a swifter sale and more than you'd get from a dealer.

I never believe anyone who says "honest" or "trust me".

I'll warrant Fivos could have a good guess.

I'll tell you this much, it isn't Japanese, it is AWD and it is fairly rapid.

I can't make that work for a car I'll do 12-14k miles in a year... I've tried and tried but it's too financially risky I think.

Just get another FSTI. One with low miles you can run for another 50k miles.
