Default Superchip or ECU mapping

Hi all,

I'm looking for a little help as I am new to the Forester and Subaru's in general.

I have a 2001 S Turbo with 177 BHP and I am looking to get it remaped. I have seen that superchips can increase the BHP by 30.

My only concern is that on their website it shows the chip is only available for the 168 BHP version and wondered if it would be suitable for my 177bhp version, and if it would give me 30 BHP more.

Would I be better going for a Apexi or is there anyone you can recomend

Thanks and any help is much appreciated.

Chips are what you have with Fish

Remap is best.

I also started off with 177 brake.

I now have a bit more grunt now.

Superchips are the work of the devil. An ECU remap is the way forward. Ecutek being the most popular option for Scoobs here in the UK.

You can gain about 20bhp with a manual bleed to the boost cut (what superchips do) mine cost me a fiver, pm me an email addy and I'll send you my 'how to' sheet!

Powerstation at Tewkesbury.

Also, what about a bigger Blower, Sports panel Filter first?

Wink

Tractive are GOOD.
Their co-habitees of the premises are Carnetix - The home of Saab and Subaru performance in the Midlands and if you need any work /servicing done then they also are GOOD...must be..I use them !

Don't forget, salt and vinegar with chips !

Cheers

Brian

ECU remap everytime, superchip is far too generic and doesnt give you the options of optimising for different grade fuels etc

i had an ECUTEK in mine and couldnt fault it in the slightest!

if superchips were that good, everyone would have one. just look at how long the waiting list for Andy Forrest is - says it all

'Avin a laugh! It might cost a fiver short term, but it gets you thinking..."So this is an extra 20hp... Iwonder what an extra 50 would feel like? An extra 100?"
It works, though, and helps keep those pesky Astras at bay!

Thumbs up

Another vote for proper mapping, used both powerstation and Pat Herborn before. Bob Rawle also another noteable mapper.

Used Powerstation most recently for setting up the FSTI and cant sing their praises enough now. Would always be my first choice now if was doing this again. But thats just IMO.

Proper mapping is the way to go, but not everyone can stump up the £600ish straight on top of a new car, an extra 20bhp for a fiver helps out for a while!
