Default Remote key fob.

Hi all,
I finally got one of my two ebay keys working (I changed the battery again and reprogrammed it).

I now have a spare one if anyone's interested. (yours for the price of postage
from France). Its from an Impreza apparently, I tested it with the new battery and it seems fine.

Drop me a pm.

Simon

I never thought of that...

Its a European model only by the way... won't work in the US.

If your key looks like the one's in the photo in the first message then it should be ok. Mine's a MY01.

Its really very simple, I don't know why it took me so long to figure it out! There is a white connector behind a trim panel on the passenger side door post in the foot well (left hand side of the car on RHD and LDH cars). When you open the panel the connector should not be connected, connect it, then close the doors of the car and press the open button once (I did this sitting in the drivers seat LHD). This should make the door locks click, and thats it... your key is programmed (don't forget to undo the connector afterwards).

Of course the key bit probably wont fit the locks, i use my non remote spare now and cut the key part off with a grinder and now have a smaller, lighter remote fob.

You might want to change the battery first. I'm not sure its a fresh one. Any watch shop should be able to sort you out with one for a couple of quid.

PM me your address and I'll pop it in a jiffy bag. Don't worry about postage it won't cost much.

Simon

I'm really no expert on the matter as my existing key stopped working first... I don't see how it could de-register your existsing key. If it does you only have to re-register the existing one. Maybe Peaty has an idea. There are several good threads on scooby mods about this.

HTH

Hi everybody, I have a 2002 Forester and I need another remote, but there's any number in the rear of the key (the key is like that in the pictures and it works, but I need another one). How can I do? Which key have I to buy on ebay? Thanks everybody and keep in touch.

Hi and welcome Gigigi!

Mine's a 01 Forester and the key's the same as an Impreza one, they come up on Ebay from time to time. Try ebay.co.uk for more choice and better prices.

What part of Italy are you in?
I'm not so far away from Torino, just the other side of the Frejus tunnel!

A quick search found this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-SPARE-KEY-FOB-2-BUTTON-BLIP-FORESTER-IMPREZA_W0QQitemZ220280493890QQcmdZViewItem?hash=i tem220280493890&_trkparms=72%3A12|39%3A1|66%3A2|65 %3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

But, it's a little expensive for what it is... I only paid about 5 euros for my last one.

Hey Simon,

Wondering if you still have that remote, looks just like mine.

Please let me know, Cheers Mate.

Yep, it's still going strong, not even had to change the battery yet. I just reread your post... did you mean the second one that I sent to Andy?

Default Help..Key Fob trouble

Hi All,
I have just purchased a 2004 Subaru Forester off my elder brother and the spare key fob is not working.
I've had the battery replaced but I've been told I need to reprogramme it.
The fob only has one button on it which you press for opening and closing.
I'm not sure if the posts above refer to my model of Forester

Can anyone explain in simple English how to reprogramme my spare key fob without lousing up the alarm system ?

Many Thanks
Hal.
