Sorry for the stupid question but I would like some reassurance before I hit the buy button on a £600 set of Prodrive GT1s, can I confirm whether anyone has fitted these wheels in 18" 5x100 et48 to an FSTI?
Strangely, this came up on SES in the context of them clearing Brembos. A chap with a Spec B Legacy was looking to buy a set.
I seem to recall someone on here having a set, but the search function isn't working well and I have been unable to prove the point!
My instinct is that they should fit on the basis the ET matches that of standard wheels, but it certainly came into question when others were discussing it.
I know that doesn't help conclude, but I'd be very clear if you buy them what the return policy is!
Point 1 finishing good news though. Unfortunately, (although many says differently) Prodrive GT1 DO NOT clear Brembo - now it will be suprise - AT THE FRONT! There is huge radial clearance, but offset is too small, and there no clearance between caliper and rim arms! So spacers are the solution! Bought some cheap one in Halfords yesterday, (any between 3 to 5 mm will do, I have gone for 5mm!) and order some proper (bolted) from Tegiwa! Just as a reference/remainder my wheels are Prodrive GT1 18"x7 and ET48, 5x100.
This right. One that thin will is called a slip on spacer, for when you google for them, and it fits between the wheel and the brake disc. You won't need longer studs for a spacer that size.
My Foz destroyed a set of these with track use, not one of them remained round after say no more than 1/2 doz track days. but they did clear the brembo brakes without any spacers
I'm still waiting for Team Dynamics to make my GT1 wheels three months after ordering.. I heard last week from demon tweeks that they were going to be another 6-8 weeks.
Just to update that the Team Dynamics GT1s I had on order for months finally arrived though Demon Tweeks. As indicated on here, they are a straight fit on the rear and fit the front with a 5mm spacer.
I gave them three coats of poorboys wheel sealant which I half thought would just turn out to be nonsense, but it seems to be working really well.
I've fitted the goodyear eagle F1s in 45x235 all round. They feel very grippy indeed, which is what I wanted.
I'm noticing the difference compared to my winter tyres certainly. Having them fitted there was some sucking of teeth when they saw I had chosed the XL version, maybe the ride will suffer a bit. However, I've just secured a set of new coilovers too!
Indeed I bought them on the basis of his report! Looking at their site they are not currently available, so when these came up un-fitted I jumped. Thanks to "tdubber" who was a great fellow to deal with. He bought them for his FSTi but sold it before he fitted them.
I gave the Eagle F1s some proper exercise last night in the wet - the grip and feel is absolutely fantastic.
