FSTi Centre Console Refurb

So then as some of you may recall, quite some time ago my centre console got scratched. Then a while later the black rubberised paint(?) went soft and sticky, and started to droop and become very easily damaged.

I also had a problem with the aircon push button in that it is often not very responsive.

So I picked up a complete centre console from a UK XT.

I have finally finished modifying and painting it satin black and fitting it to the car. During this time I had also got sick of having to leave the ashtray flap open all the time in order to have the phone power supply plugged in, so I modified the the spare cover before painting.

So now I have a satin black XT centre console and the XT silver controls fitted which work great. I did think about changing the circles on the front on the controls to make them black but think I actually quite like the silver finish on them.

So what do you think (although not the greatest photos though tbh)?

Well done. The satin black looks right, as does the silver knobs. Is the shift knob OEM?

Why didn't you use the power point in the centre armrest cubby?

Good job Paul.

I was thinking the same as @Supa cool! as I use the centre power supply.

Mine is starting to look a touch tatty now, so think this will be something worth doing.

My phone also acts as sat nav so is in a holder on the windscreen to the right of the steering wheel, so running a cable from the centre console would have been even less practical, and I would have needed to leave the centre console open to route the cable, hence the solution I came up with. Plus I have spares so can always revert back if I want to :)
