Default Finally Bought a Forester

Just picked it up this afternoon, 05 2.5XT in Urban Grey. Havent had a chance to have a good drive yet as it was chucking it down with rain and a crash on the A1 near the Angel meant anyone heading North was trying to get to the Tyne Tunnel at the same time as me.

Tomorrow I'll take t for a good run out.

Thanks for all help from people who replied to my previous postings.

Cheers.

'fraid not, we've had some almost tropical down-pours mixed with sunshine for the last couple of days.

It depends on what you use your car for. Carpet looks nicer but looks dirty/old quickly. Rubber can be cleaned easily or jet washed. I've got rubber mets, but then i take mine off road a little.

Lots of the members have both & change them out as the weather or seasons change. Of course if you do a lot of off roading, rubber all weather mats are the way to go.

Went with carpet mats as I don't see me doing much off roading.

Partially cleaned the engine bay yesterday, needs another going over though.

Spent this morning polishing out some minor scratches and touching up some stone chips.

Thought I'd made a right a*se of it as when I'd polised out the first srcatch, the paintwork looked a slightly different colour to the un-polished (the un-polished had a very slight yellow tinge to it) but after giving the rest a going over with wax/polish everythng looks the same now....must have been some sort of contamination/film over the bodywork. Havent polished the roof yet due to shortage of legs.

Just got the wheels to clean properly then I'll post some photos.

hmmmm, my uncle is an old school mechanic (the type who still has nuddie calendars on the wall and if you dont like it sling yer 'ook) and years ago I turned up in one of my new cars and joy fully showed him how clean the engine bay was having spent all the previous day cleaning it, only to be greeted with the immortal words "Its a sad day when tha's got f**k all better to do that clean the' engine, lad!"

i've never done it since as i've always got something better to do!

Welcome to the world of Forester ownership....What ever you get It'll be better than the standard carpets!! I've got genuine carpet mats and they seem pretty tough...
