Check engine light on

Hi Guys,

My check engine (steady yellow/amber) light came on whilst driving.Apparently it's something to do with emissions on european foresters(according to manual)
The car seems absolutely fine,is it something I should worry about immediately or can carry on driving through Christmas?
Also can anyone reccommend a decent OBD Ecu code reader for 2004 XT?
Many Thanks and Happy Christmas!!!

Simon

Unless you know the code it could be anything and not just emmissions.

For an OBDII/EOBD code reader, pick any one of these depending upon the depth of your pocket

obd2 fault code reader | eBay

Cheap and cheerful can be sufficient for owner use.

Was a MY03 FXT 5MT (280bhp/290Lbsft)
Now a MY11 WRX STi 4door (342bhp/360Lbsft)

I use this

Super Mini OBD2 ELM327 V1.5 Bluetooth Car Scanner Android Torque Auto Scan Tool | eBay

With this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...orque&hl=en_GB

(There is a lite version that's free)

Edit: Only works if you have an Android Smartphone

Sorry to hi jack thread
Alan,

Most if not all will reset as well.

For your 2.5L Outback My04
Sensor assembly-air/fuel ratio, 22641AA180

Here's a couple - doesn't seem to be a common one.........
New Walker Products Lambda Sensor Oxygen Sensor for Subaru 250-54027 | eBay

4-wire Air Fuel Ratio (Oxygen) Sensor for some Subaru engines

Was a MY03 FXT 5MT (280bhp/290Lbsft)
Now a MY11 WRX STi 4door (342bhp/360Lbsft)

This happened to me a week or so ago, in Scotland visiting in-laws and drove around for 2 days with this wee yellow light glaring at me, so with a journey of 500 odd miles home in prospect I set about looking for a solution, they all seemed to be rather expensive until I chanced on a US forum where someone reckoned that Subaru's use a pressurised fuel system and the first thing to check was your filler cap was on at least 5/6 clicks, I removed it replaced with the 6 clicks , lo and behold light out and after 500 miles home hasn't come on again, am I just lucky ?
