I'm considering tweaking a SG 2.0l XT manual to about 300bhp, along with supporting suspension & brake mods
What sort of money should I budget for? Engine work - de-cat, panel filter, and would I need a larger TMIC? Then re-map Brakes - Brembos (do I need larger dia wheels on the SG model). ARB (plus poss front), together with stronger mounts, d/l's as well. As for suspension, I would like to lower the car, so dampers & springs (which I would prefer as opposed to coilovers), would I be looking to fit late'ish Impreza STi units? Ball Park figures, so I know what I'm getting into would be great. Thanks guys, already loads of good feedback on previous questions |

![]() Seriously though, never got this 'buy a lesser model then up-spec it to match the model above' thing. Just asking for trouble in my opinion. It's so, ... , American. ![]() ![]() 10-12 for an FSTi which will give you all you want above, and allow you to build on for the future.

Looks OK to me. Have you gone RARB too? How did the handling change with the different struts fitted?

For Impreza STi Brembos, you'll need at least 17" x 7.5" (e.g. STi v7/v8 wheels). However, I have a set of GT spec Brembo calipers that will fit under stock Forester 17" wheels.

Some people like myself cant afford the £9+k for a sti fozzy with 270bhp so have opted for "buying a lesser spec" car and making it faster.I have spent a few thousand pounds now but look what i have, full leather,sat-nav,fsh,average miles and a great tech spec inc new sti inverted suspension set up bigger brakes, wheels, turbo, intercooler, exhaust etc all of which other than a 6 speed box give me a better car for still thousands less than an sti.
Now i know people will look at it and say but its not an sti but when it blows an sti's doors off and looks like a normal xt then i will just smile
