Bit pricey at 990 quid!: SUBARU FORESTER 97-02 2.0L 16V ALLOY RACE RADIATOR RAD | eBay
Thinking of getting one, assuming that is a typo, as the 03 - 05 is 99 quid. Looks like I will need a new rad, as current one seems to have had some bodged repairs. So I didn't think it was a bad price. Any other options out there? I heard a newage Impreza will fit, but you need to change the bottom hose. |

I've just fitted a new rad to my S-Turbo, bought it form here SUBARU FORESTER 2.0 TURBO MANUAL RADIATOR NEW | eBay £100, perfect fit and local to me so I could go pick it up and pay cash
It's not a full alloy one but I figured the original lasted 12 years, so if this one lasts half that long I'll be happy Last edited by Guinness; 11-10-2012 at 05:09 PM. |

That one doesn't, you need the autobox one. Try adrad.co.uk they have a lot of choice and are quick.
Cheers Brian

Just wondering, why exactly would they list the turbo manual ones, without the gearbox cooling? Perhaps I should just double check that I don't have the aforementioned pipes.

Earlier in the year I had to replace my rad (S-Turbo MY00 manual), went to Eurocar parts & picked up a new rad for about £114 I think. Took about two hours end 2 end to fit it & have it back up and running (i like to take my time).
However the first one they had delivered was an Impreza one i.e. no cooling pipe work for the gearbox. |

Looking at the Impreza ones compared to the Forester, they look quite different anyway. But if its only the cooling pipes, then I have a spare MY00 Impreza one I could use. But like I said, first glance they look very different, but that may be because the Impreza one I have is a non A/c model.

Don, are you saying you can use one without the pipes, if you just connect the gearbox oil pump lines together?

Thanks for the advice. I repalced the rad yesterday. I went with a Euro Car Parts one, as it was next day delivery, even though I didn't do the job for a couple of months.
They gave me the wrong rad, without the oil pipes. The oil pipes on the old rad are threaded couplings. I could have removed them, as the area was marked out out where they would have been on the new rad. But I couldn't be sure it was a separate section inside the rad for the oil. So I used one of the old rubber pipes to join the gear box oil pipes together. I didn't fancy taking the rad back as I'd already had it a few months, and I also stripped the old one off the Forester. Anyway, all done now and temps are barely reching the 80's on idle in traffic. |
