Default Hankook Winter iPike W409

Well, the time came to retire (pun intended ) the old set of Blizzak WS-50 (215/60-16) that have served me well for 5.5 winters and 28k+ miles. Today, I had a set of Hankook Winter iPike W409 (215/65-16) installed at my local Discount Tire (well, 20 miles away). I reserved the tires online and made an appointment, so I was in and out in 30 minutes flat. They did a fantastic job, as always. Also, they gave me a $50 rebate that had expired a couple of years ago, so I basically got the Certificates for Free Replacement at no extra charge. This is not something that I have purchased in the past, since they'll do a pro-rated replacement anyway, but it'll be nice to have if it's ever needed.

I had a 20 mile twisty canyon drive to get back home. The larger tire size wasn't too noticeable, but I can feel the extra weight a bit. They are more squirmy than the worn out Blizzaks, but that was to be expected. The tread is almost a half inch deep, so they should do very well in the snow. There's not much of the white stuff around right now to test them out, but we should get some again soon. I'll follow up on that at a later date.

Here are a few pics...

This is my 2nd season on my W409 iPikes and I love them. They handled the 14" we got in my city with no issues.

Nice, looks sharp bro.

I have XI2 but I don't think I won't be getting these again.
I debated a lot amongst XI2 vs W409 vs WS-60. and ended up getting XI2 just because my wife and I trust costco...

They are good on ice but in the deep snow... helpless :(

discount tire = discount tire direct(vendor)??

do you think 215/70/16 will fit by any chance?

Same company.

I think a 215/70-16 might be pushing it. There's not much room left between the tire and lower spring perch with the 215/65.

Hankook winter tires are great!

I just installed some IceBear W300 225/50/17 on my Fozzy. These are the high performance winter tires. Let me tell you they are great in deep snow as well. I have them on my Mini Cooper S too!
