Default RSB / End Link Fitment

Guys,
need you views. I just had an install which was:

Cobb stg 1 suspension kit (FSB/RSB, mounts and rear strut tower)
Cobb end links
STI Lateral links.

The installer recommended these parts and even called Cobb for a recommended lateral link since I told them the stock ones break. The install was yesterday and the car is really tight and turns great but I'm getting a little too much clunking for my taste, especially in the rear right part of the RSB. I looked at the install and the end links are not vertical and don't look like good fitment. I would think that the links should be on the outside of the bar (the fronts are). The stocks were like that. I'm attaching the front, rear and stock photos. I've left a message with the installer. I'd like to get your views..

Thanks,
Deparko

p.s. Mod land can be quite a journey :-)

I really love the looks of those new end links and lateral links, strong. But it seems odd to me that they are not running vertically, or flush with the sway bar ends. It looks as though the end link should have been mounted on the right side of the sway bar and the left side of the lateral link (in pic 4426). The front just looks as if the sway bar is too short judging by the angle of the end link. Of course that shouldn't matter if the end links have ball joints in them. Hmmmm

The adjustible Cobb rear sway bar mounts solve the angle issue.
Nice product.

As for the combo. you have, STI lateral arm and Cobb Link and Sway bar, and stock ride height, it just doesn't look like it's going to work. You might want to try swapping sides to the outside with the link.

the combo was recommended by Cobb. Just an fyi, I will be installing the swfit springs so the drop will be about an inch. If that makes a difference.

Also the installer said that they choose the inside of the bar because if it was on the outside they thought it might be to close to the caliper. I'd love to see if anyone has the same combo installed and how are they installed.

Regarding the adjustable swaybar mounts. I'd like to study further to determine if that will help fix this. Hulkmax, I need to review and will pm you.

Deparko

p.s. btw..I'm going back to the installer on Thurs. So I will research until that time.

Which lateral links did they install? They are different.

B0250FE010 Impreza STI
http://www.subaru.com/microsites/spt...=WRX+STI+SEDAN

B0250SA000/001 Forester
http://www.subaru.com/microsites/spt...ER&trim=2.5+XT

This is what the Forester one looks like.

Where are the other two aluminum lateral links? I got four with mine.

Are you certain you've got the correct sway bars on there? On both ends there are bent washers/spacers on your end links. This looks like a real mess. Have you tried posting this on Cobb's own forum too?

Also, as just pointed out, you've only got half the STI lateral link set installed.

posting on the cobb site is a great idea..I will do that. As far as the lateral links go my receipt says "05 STI Rear Lateral links". I will get the part number tomorrow. The installer said he could get 2 of them. I don't believe you need them for the front. I'm going to re-check all the parts to ensure they are correct. Both the installer and Cobb knew this was a '06 FXT. We had several conversations on this.

Thanks for all the help,

Deparko

The more I look at this, the more I'm convinced this is a botched install.

For one thing, the STi lateral links come as a set of four. It looks as though your installer may have simple ordered a pair of the rear ones for an Impreza STI instead of the set for the Forester.

Second, those bent washer things absolutely are wrong if they are metal. In fact, I don't think they were supplied by Cobb at all, just put on for some reason we can only guess at. Maybe what they are isn't clear in the picture. (edited)

Third, it looks like the rear bar is the wrong size, however that could be the caused by the lateral links being wrong, but the bar correct.

Who did this install? Have they done Foresters before? They may be similar to Imprezas, but they are just that: similar. Not the same.

The sticky about upgrading your suspension says that a 2005 STI lateral link works. Is that not correct. The link is:

How to turn better than an STI for cheap!

Item #5. I will certainly check with the installer and COBB

Thanks,
Deparko

I still sorta think it's funny that people get things like swaybars installed by someone.

Anyway, that doesn't look right...My 04 STi bar with stock laterals and endlinks looks a lot healthier in position that yours does.

Impreza and Forester STi lateral links are the same length. But I agree with all on here that this install episode has gone awry. I hope the installer didn't charge you full price for the lateral links. The clunk in the rear is most likely the COBB spherical endlinks. I get clunks too using the Poltecs.

I know what you mean, why pay some guy an hours labour charge for 15 minutes work, especially as something is obviously wrong here!

Here are the differences between 04/05 STI and Forester lateral links. On the Forester ones B = 3 1/4". They are all the same length D = 16 1/4

Good luck,

SuperRu, my Forester STi lateral links measured the same as all the 04-05 Impreza STi ones I have seen.

Here's one of the thread a little while back.

Could someone please measure their lateral links
