power steering leak

2000 Forester, knew I had a leak & found it Sunday, 3 pics attached, masking tape id's line, is in rear line right over jack plate, mechanic friend says if it's on low-pressure side can cut line & fill in w/ flexible tubing but if hi pressure must replace existing tube. Input? Anybody know what this part is technically called? Thanks!

11/18 5:40 am- um, can someone please answer? have gotten great replies & answers to my other posts, surprised that no one has replied to this... your help is much appreciated and I hope to help others on this site in the future...
