Hello, I currently have Koni Yellow's with RCE black springs on my '04 XT and while I love the lower stance, I am finding the need for more ground clearance more and more as of late. Besides finding some stock take-off suspension, what would be my best, and most cost effective option for lifting the Fozzy back up for some off the pavement use?
I am thinking the same thing lately. I really love the handling but the ride height is what make a Forester a Forester. Plus lowering really mess up the roll center on this car.
I am on Koni Yellow also but use Forester specific Swift spring with forester strut housing.
I been looking at some 2" spacer to bring everything to about 0.5" taller than stock just to see if I would like it or not.
Some time down the road I would like to get 6 speed swap but still unsure about the the gearing. I really like 27" tall tire. Not sure how the 3.9 final gear would work with that size tire.
You would need Forester strut housing and use 1.5" spacer below the insert to maintain stock suspension travel. Stock spring is fine for Koni. You just need to adjust down the rebound since they are much softer than your RCE black. Stock height king might be other good option. I would not run lift spring since they are known to make the suspension top out.
I may just go KYB and King lift springs with some spacers, then hold onto my current hardware just in case I ever want to go low. I already have a set of stock wheels to toss on it. Any other better/cheaper options than KYB/King/Spacers? not doing any serious rock crawling, just overland type stuff.
