Plainsman is correct.

To do this upgrade you need the following:

-The RB kit (brackets)
-Rotors (Be it RB or whatever your choice in 290x18mm. If you are getting the 316 kit, only the RB rotors work)
-1991-1994 Legacy Turbo calipers (I'll get you part numbers later)

This, of course, will work for the SF as well as the SG. I did the calculations based on FXT/WRX front brakes. It would be awful to use them with stock SF front brakes.

These brackets JUST got released, though I've had my kits for quite some time.

you actually dont even need the RB brackets. Just get the legacy rear brackets, rotors, and pads for that year legacy.

I'm not sure I follow what your talking about. If you want 266x18mm rear rotors, that's true you can just get the rotors, calipers, brackets, and pads for an early legacy. This is to upgrade to 290x18 and 316x18mm rear rotors. For those upgrades, you'd need the RB brackets. To do the 290x18 upgrade, you'd need either LGT take-off's or the RB kit.

And, of course, your stock caliper won't work. It was designed around a 266x10mm rotor. Even swapping to vented, the stock caliper won't do the trick.

Oh. Yea, for the 290x10 upgrade you can use OEM parts. Last I checked, going with OEM stuff cost almost as much as the RB kit and you were stuck with stock rotors?

I'd rather have vented rear brakes. Guess I'm partial :)

So if I want to match my front Brembos with the 316x18mm kit, I'll need this kit and 91-94 turbo Legacy calipers? Or 05-08 LGT calipers?

I can't seem to find any links to the 316mm front brake upgrade kits. And the rear ventilated kits require different calipers, correct?

I think the 316mm is a rear brake upsize for the Legacy. It would require the use of the Legacy caliper and the bracket designed to adapt it to the larger rotor.
If this is to upgrade the Forester - I don't think it has made it to the website as a kit yet and may not ever as it requires the use of parts not supplied and not factory installed on that vehicle.
Here is the link to RB's upgrade for the rear 316mm upgrade. Performance Brake Parts, Rotors, Calipers, Discs & more! - RacingBrake.com

Well crap... I'm out - for now. I was planning on ordering this kit to upgrade from my current rear H6 Legacy setup in the coming weeks and was hoping to take it easy on my car/brakes until then, but I had LIC check them out last night because we're going on a trip this weekend.

Fronts - nothing left on the pads... zip, zilch, metal to metal. Pistons fully extended. Rears - 2% on the outside, nothing on the inside. Needless to say, I left my car there for a brake job (fluid flush, new pads & rotors all around) and will have to wait with this upgrade until such time as I can justify the expense.

At least I won't have to listen to that annoying wear indicator screech anymore... :unamused:

why didn't you get the rotors turned and use the savings to get the upgrade later?

Default So it seems the consensus is 4-2 WRX '06/07 are not worth it

My investigation after reading countless posts leads to conclude this is a mediocre upgrade:

1. Less clamping force on front
2. More rear bias
3. Heavier unsprung mass and gyroscopic effect due to larger, thicker rotors.

Do the larger rear and vented rotors justify the expense, rear bias, and higher unsprung mass?
I found '07 WRX front/rear calipers/rotors/ (pads 50% life) for $700. Well, actually $900 including the KB rotor rear adapters.

I am looking for performance over looks (although I love those red WRX calipers)

The rotors were at the end of their intended lifespan... there was nothing left on there to be turned!

You did your homework! Credit for not just going for the "racer look" like most. LOL.

Most upgrades beyond better pads are for increased thermal capacity and to a lesser degree pedal feel. If you aren't experiencing fade at the track then all BBKs are bling plain and simple.
