The problem with your reasoning is that everyone chiming in is saying the same thing, and you're the only one with any experience to the contrary, yet you seem to think you are the one who is right and everyone else is wrong.

^Seriously.

The problem is that having the rotors turned is expensive. Most of the time, if you're close to the end of the life of the rotors, you're better off getting new rotors.

Yes obviously we are pack animals and tend to flock with the majority.

Yes, the majority of firsthand experiences. But you must be right because of YOUR experiences.

I'm not going along with what others are saying to fit in or anything. I had rotors that had some serious grooving and warping going on, and it was something that could be seen with the naked eye just looking at them and measuring them.

Just because something has not happened to you doesn't mean that other people are stupid and don't know what they are experiencing. There are a lot of factors at play which may never apply to your driving situation. The weather there in So Cal is always the same. In the northeast, we get extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and they salt the hell out of the streets here.

Yo clearly have some kind of social disorder that compels you to annoy people for no reason other than to make you superior others. I have put you on my ignore list, but your posts show up anyway. Go away, already. No one likes you or appreciates your ******* posts.

We were having the same problem with brake disk "warping". Our local Subaru Technical Director and Production car racer assured us that the disks were not warping but infact getting pad build up due to braking methods.

Pads tend to deposit material if used slightly harder than normal even once. If the car is stopped from as little as 40km/h quickly and then stays stationary as in traffic the pad material burns on to disk. The next time the brakes are applied they tend to bite on the same spot hence the Judder effect.

He has advised us of a method on how to clean the pad material off of the disk with out Skiming / machining them.

Take the car to an open highway, bring speed to 120KM/h apply the brakes while keeping the speed at 120 (left foot braking) for 10 seconds. Release brakes and drive for 30 seconds and then repeat cycle twice more, drive home gently and allow to cool. This should remove any pad build up.

I tried it on our XT Prodrive and it does work!
This has now been done 3 times that the judder has appeared due to traffic / Track driving.

Try it, if it works money saved.

I believe that rebedding works for some cases of the judder, but in some cases, like mine, the rotors actually have deep changes in thickness and simply need to be replaced. I'm not saying that it doesn't work. I'm just saying that some people experience different things from others. In some cases, it is just deposits. I have no idea how many people actually need to replace the rotors. I had to replace mine. I wanted to know how much it would cost to have my rotors resurfaced, and I found out I could get Brembo blanks for less than it would cost to resurface the old rotors, or to get replacement OEM rotors. When I got my new rotors, I bedded them in properly and I've never had a problem with them.

I have just changed to RB Drilled and Slotted , 1 piece disk to try and improve braking on track. They have done 5000Km so far and no judder, so it could also be that OEM are more prone to problems. The slots do keep the pad face clean

Thank you for restoring my faith that there is signs of intelligent life here... If we all agreed to other's anccdotes we would be still afraid to sail off the end of the earth. LOL.

Did you upgrade pads as well? That is what usually makes the difference.

I have tried 2 different types of pads with both OEM and RB discs. I have tried Bendix Ultima and Carbotech - Carbon Ceramic. The Bendix are slightly better.

The local importers only bring in good stuff for Impreza's so there is no Hawks + or DS2500 Ferrodo for Fozzy calipers. Will be fitting WRX 4 pots ASAP!
Most of the Aftermarket guys on the web will not ship to South Africa!

Stock pads are crap and I've only experienced the judder (warpage LOL ) with them. They just can't handle aggressive braking and tend to leave an imprint after a few hard stops. Pretty common knowledge elsewhere... at least in S.A. Bummer about the lack of suppliers though. I'm looking at the DS2500s myself.

??? I Usually do my own service work (to a point) and usually have rotors turned when necessary. The local machine shop here in Jefferson charges $6 each. Expensive?? Granted I have not done a Subaru yet, but with all the brake work onmy old Jeep, Datsun 280 Z and old Ford pickups, it can't be too different.
